The funeral will be Thursday for Willie Mae Leazer Campbell, 84, 420 Partee St., who died Saturday (Oct. 6, 2001).
Born June 10, 1917, in Rowan County, Mrs. Campbell, a daughter of the late Alphonso and Maggie Long
Leazer, was educated in the Rowan County schools.
A retired domestic worker, she was employed by Dr. and Mrs. Paul Sabrin of New York City for 45 years. She was a former member of First Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons William A. Campbell, Aberdeen, Md., and Robert G. Campbell, Capital Heights, Md.; daughter Bessie Broadway, of the home; sisters Bessie Hawkins, of the home, and Jannette Jackson,
Rochdale, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, First Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev.
L.E. Brown. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation: 3:30-4 p.m. Thursday at the church.

LEXINGTON — Berniece Varner Dorsett, 93, East Holly Grove Road, died Monday (Oct. 8, 2001) at Centerclair Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Grant N. ‘Poley’ Eagle
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Grant N. “Poley” Eagle, 83, Newport News, a native of Rowan
County,N.C., died Friday (Oct. 5, 2001) in Newport News.
Mr. Eagle was born April 19, 1915. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had worked in the shipyards in Newport News.
Survivors include daughter Marty Wolfe, Newport News; brother Don Eagle,Texas; and sisters Nancy Coggin and Maretta
McClamrock, both of Salisbury.
The funeral is today in Newport News.

Robert Leroy Wilson, 93, Southern Pines, formerly of Salisbury, died Monday (Oct. 8, 2001) at St. Joseph of the Pines.
Born Jan. 4, 1908, in Raleigh, Mr. Wilson was the son of the late Robert Lee and Myrtle Fowler Wilson. He retired from Hayes Aircraft Co.
His wife, Helen Perkinson Wilson, died Feb. 22, 1986.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
