Roger Andy Benton

CHINA GROVE — Roger Andy Benton, 39, 290 Madison Road, died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born March 23, 1962, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Benton was the son of the late Hurley and Mary Green Benton. He was educated in the Cabarrus County schools.

Survivors include sister Brenda Vanhoy, New London.

Services: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Billy Honeycutt, pastor, Landis Baptist Church. Burial, West Lawn MemorialPark.

Visitation: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Sandra Plyler, 290 Madison Road.

Dewey C. Briggs

LEXINGTON — Dewey Clifford Briggs, 89, Beck’s Church Road, died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at Lexington Memorial Hospital after two weeks of illness.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Beck’s Lutheran Church. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of daughter Peggy Varner, 9 Colonial Drive.

Memorials: Beck’s Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 441 Beck’s Church Road, Lexington,NC 27292.

 

Donald Steven Eudy

ALBEMARLE — Donald Steven Eudy, 67, 26690 Burleson Road, died Monday (Oct. 1, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Born March 27, 1934, in Stanly County, Mr. Eudy, a son of the late Cornelius Alvin and Letha Morton Eudy, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He retired from E.J. Snyder and Co. Inc., where he was a supervisor in the drying department. He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and the DAV.

Survivors include wife Mary Lou Burleson Eudy; son Richard Scott Eudy, Albemarle; brothers Alvin Ray and Ted Eudy, both of Albemarle; sister Eva Mae Lefler, Granite Quarry; and four grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Hartsell Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Hugh R. “Buddy” Compton and the Rev. Curran Welch. Burial, Stanly Gardens of Memory. Military rites by Stanly County DAV.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home on Burleson Road.

Memorials: Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 28774 N.C. Hwy. 24/27, Albemarle, NC 28001.

 

Kathleen ‘Kat’ Kirk

LEXINGTON —Kathleen Smith “Kat” Kirk, 84, Lexington, died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001).

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Piedmont Funeral Home.

 

Macie B. Koontz

Macie B. Koontz, 80, Salisbury, died Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2001) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Willard Leonard

LEXINGTON — Willard Lindsey Leonard, 87, Brookstone Retirement Center, formerly of Mount Moriah Drive, died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001) at Lexington Memorial Hospital after more than a week of serious illness.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Thursday, Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-8 tonight, Davidson Funeral Home.

 

Robert Frank Lynch

KANNAPOLIS — Robert Frank Lynch, 70, 1528 Buffalo St., died Tuesday (Oct. 2, 2001).

Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Bethel ‘Smitty’ Smith

LEXINGTON —Bethel Esten “Smitty” Smith, 84, Broad Street, died Monday (Oct. 1, 2001) at his home after five months of serious illness.

Services: 7 tonight at the home on Broad Street. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Salisbury.

Visitation: None.

Davidson Funeral Home is in charge.
