Letter to the Editor

Let’s offer prayers for wise leadership

SALISBURY POST

I am amazed at the recent unanimous decision made by the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to have a private time of prayer and reconciliation for our nation on Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 5-7 p.m., in the Capitol Rotunda for members of Congress, the Supreme Court justices, the president and his cabinet.

It is my understanding that this service will be led by the chaplains of the Senate and the House and will not be open to the public or the press. What a humbling and timely decision by our leaders.

All citizens are asked to pray for our specific senators and legislators and for all who will be in attendance. Let’s do our part here in Rowan County, both individually and corporately. Our church, DaySpring Presbyterian at 2445 Umberger Road in Cleveland, will have a prayer service from 6-7 p.m. that day and would urge other churches and religious institutions to plan services as well.

God bless America!

— Mary Nell Coblenz
