Another rare bird stolen from zoo

BY PARIS GOODNIGHT
SALISBURY POST

Steve Macaluso said a second rare bird was stolen from the Charlotte Metro Zoo when someone broke in and cut a lock from a cage.

A 5-year-old umbrella cockatoo named Petals was the victim this time. An African gray bird named Harley was taken at the first of September.

Macaluso said with other more expensive birds and other animals in the zoo, he thinks someone went in looking for a specific bird that he wanted or someone else was willing to pay for. He’s offered an unspecified reward.
