LEXINGTON — Linda Sue Kilby Bailey, 53, Berrier Avenue, died Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after two weeks of serious illness.

Lena M. Cannon
LEXINGTON — Lena Mae Jones Cannon, 79, Old N.C. Highway 52, died Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) at High Point Regional Hospital.
Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Thursday, Lexington City Cemetery.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home on Old N.C. Highway 52.
Morgan Richard Gray
The funeral will be Friday for Morgan Richard Gray, 11, Salisbury, who died Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Dec. 22, 1989, in Laconia, N.H., he was the son of Peter Richard and Renee Rodak Gray of Salisbury. He was homeschooled through the Gray Academy.
A volunteer with American Red Cross and the Pregnancy Support Council, he played drums for the Homeschool Band.
He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Cleveland, and AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) and was a junior usher.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include brother Trevor Gray, of the home; paternal grandparents Norman and Estelle Gray, Alton, N.H.; paternal great-grandmother Edith Gray, Michigan; maternal grandparents George and Beverly Rodak, Alliance, Ohio; and maternal grandmother Anna Rodak, Louisville, Ohio.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, First Baptist Church of Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Mat Jarvis, pastor, Cornerstone Baptist Church, Cleveland. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, City Memorial Park.

Minnie Duncan Jones
The funeral will be Friday for Minnie Lee Duncan Jones, 75, 1100 W. Fisher St., Apt. 4, died Friday (Nov. 23, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after 10 weeks of serious illness.
Born April 8, 1926, in Fort Mott, S.C., Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late Frederick and Clara Eller Duncan. She was educated in the Fort Mott, S.C., and Rowan County schools and was a graduate of the Rowan County schools.
A homemaker, she was last employed at Star Laundry. She was a member and Mother of the Church at Bethel Power of Faith Church. She attended Mount Calvary Holiness Church and was affiliated with East Spencer Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kennedy “K.C.” Jones; a son, Milton Jones; and a daughter, Linda Jones.
Survivors include sons Clarence Jones, Salisbury, Price Jones, Charlotte, and Lamont Jones, Morganton; daughters Selena Provoid, Mary Catherine Jones, Brenda Parks, Gwendolyn Jones and Lynn Lawson, all of Salisbury, and Leslie Wells, Charlotte; brother Ronell Duncan, Columbia, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ellen Plyler Kiser
KANNAPOLIS — Ellen Plyler Kiser, 89, formerly of Rainbow Drive, died Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at Big Elm Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 9, 1912, in Iredell County, Mrs. Kiser was a daughter of the late I.W. and Lou Trexler Plyler. She retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills spinning room and was a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Edward Smoot Kiser, died Jan. 14, 2001.
Survivors include daughters Doris Campbell, China Grove, Linda Byrd, Charleston, S.C., Peggy Goodman, Mooresville, and Faye Sloop, Charlotte; sisters Dorothy Abernathy and Lela Daniels, both of Mooresville, and Pauline Ball of Statesville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Bennie M. Lipscomb
The funeral will be Friday for Bennie M. Lipscomb, 57, 409 Elm St., who died Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) at his home after a period of declining health.
Born Feb. 22, 1944, in Salisbury, Mr. Lipscomb, a son of the late Al and Mary Elizabeth Brown Lipscomb, attended J.C. Price High School. He was employed by Stanback Company and was a member of Soldiers Memorial AMEZionChurch.
Survivors include brothers Everett Lipscomb, Grayson, Ga., and Al Lipscomb Jr., Salisbury.

Billy R. Sheppard
CHINA GROVE — Billy R. Sheppard, 66, Oak Harbor, Ohio, formerly of China Grove, died Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
Born Aug. 4, 1935, in China Grove, Mr. Sheppard was a son of the late Robert and Josephine Allman Sheppard. He was a graduate of China Grove High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Retired from Shat-R-Shield, a fluorescent lighting company in Salisbury, Mr. Sheppard had recently relocated to Toledo, Ohio.
Survivors include daughter Billi Jo Bennet, Columbus, Ohio; sister Betty Woody, China Grove; brother Keith Sheppard, Coopersville, Mich.; stepdaughter Lou Sheppard; stepsons Eddie, Rick and John Sheppard, Oak Harbor, Ohio, Troy Sheppard, Toledo, Ohio, and Rob Sheppard, Colorado; and eight grandchildren.
Services: 7 this evening at Crosser Funeral Home, Toledo, Ohio. The Rev. Jim Fitz will officiate. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Oak Harbor.

Lindsey Reid Sink
The funeral will be Thursday for Lindsey Reid Sink, 76, Salisbury, who died Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at his home.
Born March 22, 1925, in Rowan County, Mr. Sink, a son of the late William and Nancy Simmerson Sink, was educated in the Rowan County schools.
During World War II, he was a gunner on 46 missions with the U.S. Navy. He was awarded the American Theater, European-African and World War II Victory Medals.
He worked as a field representative for General Electric for 25 years and taught refrigeration at Central Carolina Community College for five years.
An active member of Union Lutheran Church, he was on the social ministry committee and a Communion assistant.
Survivors include wife Dorothy Slater Sink, whom he married Nov. 23, 1977; son William Lynn Sink, Cornelius; stepsons Charles Lloyd Woodard, Raleigh, and Pat Donovan Woodard, Apex; stepdaughters Brenda Woodard Flood, Garner, Sharon Woodard Morgan, Durham, and Diana Lynn Woodard,Raleigh; brother Hubert Sink, Kannapolis; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Frances G. Spears
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Frances Greene Spears, 89, 400 Webber Road, a native of Spencer, N.C., died Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at White Oak Estates.
The daughter of the late Thomas David and Fannie Young Greene, Mrs. Spears was a member of First Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class.
Survivors include husband of 56 years H. Newell Spears; daughter Barbara S. Barker, Raleigh; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Ethel P. Stewart
KANNAPOLIS — Ethel P. Stewart, 94, Best of Care, died Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at the nursing center.
Born Jan. 9, 1907, in Rowan County, Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of the late Marvin Baxter and Dora Ellen Fogleman Plummer. She was a homemaker and a member of First Wesleyan Church.
Her husband,Claude Stewart, died in 1989. A daughter, Ruth Swink, and a son, Marvin Stewart, both died in 1997.
Survivors include daughters Mildred Artz and Evelyn Smith, both of Kannapolis; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Thursday, Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Forbis Kivett.
