OAKBORO — Mable Autry Ashcraft, 84, 310 Hamilton Road, died Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001) at Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Monroe.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Galilee Baptist Church, Oakboro. Burial, Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Marshville.

Willie Edwards Cline
KANNAPOLIS —The funeral will be Sunday for Willie Edwards Cline, 87, 6241 Old Concord-Salisbury Road, who died Thursday (Nov. 22, 2001) at her home.
Born March 27, 1914, in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Mary M. Bradshaw and Ira L. Edwards. She was educated in the Mecklenburg County Schools.
Mrs. Cline was a homemaker and a member of Rogers Park Baptist Church.
Her husband, Charlie J. Cline died Aug. 24, 1986. A daughter, Marie Cline Coleman, died March 29, 2001.
Survivors include two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Rogers Park Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tony Fox and the Rev. Leon Smith; burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove.

Leathie S. Dement
MOORESVILLE — Leathie Sweet Dement, 75, 2865 Bradshaw Road, died Friday (Nov. 23, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
Born Oct. 11, 1926, in Alexander County, she was a daughter of the late Ollie Teague and Jessie Sweet. She was a housewife.
Her husband, Perry Cleveland Dement, died in 1969. Two daughters also preceded her in death, Patricia Wyles and Diana DeGregoreo.
Survivors include sons Clifton Dement, China Grove, Jerry Dement, Troutman, and David Dement, Statesville; daughters Peatrice Noon, Stony Point, and Delores Plyler, Mooresville; brother Burt Sweet, Rockwell; sisters Ellen Freeze, China Grove, and Nellie Robertson, Mooresville; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Sunday, Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Jim Greenburg.
Visitation: Following the service.

KANNAPOLIS — Betty Sue Kirkland Earnhardt, 66, 907 Evie Drive, died Friday (Nov. 23, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Betty O’Neil Kimrey
ALBEMARLE — Betty O’Neil Smith Kimrey, 72, 2415Idlewood Drive, died Friday ( Nov. 23, 2001) at her home.
Born April 22, 1929, in Albemarle, she was a daughter of the late Lillie Frances Basinger Smith and Raymond Alexander Smith.
She retired as a spinner from Albemarle Spinning.
A member of Highland Baptist Church and the Joy Club and church choir, she once taught primary Sunday school.
She was a member of the “Cotton Patch Gang” and sang at gatherings of friends and at nursing homes.
Her husband, Lucious Raymond Kimrey, died Aug. 9, 2000.
Survivors include son Randall Bryce Kimrey, New London; daughters Deidrea Coone, Albemarle, and Krystal R. Kimrey, College Park, Md.; sisters Margaret Smith, Albemarle, Owona Earnhardt, China Grove, and Audrey Smith, Kannapolis; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Highland Baptist Church, New London, conducted by the Rev. Doland T. Humphries; burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 6 -8 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. At other times, the family will be at the home.

Dennis Lee Owens
Dennis Lee Owens, 68, Salisbury, died Friday (Nov. 23, 2001) at the residence of his daughter in Tucson, Ariz.

Florence Rushing
Florence Elizabeth Rushing, 63, 3345 Statesville Blvd, formerly of 709 Gem St., Kannapolis, died Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born April 5, 1938, she was a daughter of Haines and Ulla Bridges. She was retired from Shoney’s.
Survivors include daughters Barbara Wiltshire, Salisbury, and Bonnie Lynn Patterson of China Grove; son Billy Ray Patterson, Kannapolis; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Bryant-Lytle-Young Chapel. Burial, 11 a.m. Monday, National Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Steele.
Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel prior ; at other times, the family will be at the residence.
James W. Sides Sr.
James William Sides Sr., 81, Old Mocksville Road, died Friday (Nov. 23, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 26, 1920, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Sal Rainey and Edgard Sides.
He was educated in the Rowan County Schools.
Mr. Sides worked for Cannon Mills for 47 years before retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
His wife, Mary Frances Koontz Sides, died May 23, 1999. A son, James W. Sides Jr., died July 20, 2001; a grandson also preceded him in death.
Survivors include son, Ronnie Lee Sides, Salisbury; daughters Barbara S. Cobb, Summerville, S.C., and Patricia Ann Sides, of the home; brothers Robert and Johnny Sides, both of Salisbury; sister Anne Zimmerman, Salisbury; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one step-great grandchild.
Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rick Cockerham, pastor, Calvary Baptist Church; burial, Rowan Memorial Park.
