Everette Crisco
Everette Dee Crisco, 74, 1285 West A St., died Tuesday (Nov. 20, 2001) at Big Elm Nursing Center after a period of declining health.
Born Feb. 16, 1927, in Kannapolis, Mr. Crisco, a son of the late James and Glovie Lawing Crisco, was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Cannon Mills and was a member of West A Street Church of God.
His wife of 53 years, Ruby Rollins Crisco, died March 9, 2001. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melba Jean Wheeler, and a grandson.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Kannapolis West A Street Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Sam Crisp. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Lady’s Funeral Home.

Edna O. Powell
LEXINGTON — Edna O. Powell, 75, of Nottingham Drive, died Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001) at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, led by the Rev. John L. Taylor Jr. and the Rev. Avery Ferguson. Burial at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home.

Mary Biles Small
NEW LONDON — Mary Biles Small, 62, died Tuesday (Nov. 20, 2001) at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.
Born Dec. 2, 1938, in Stanly County to Mary Elizabeth Barringer Biles and the late Tharon S. Biles, she was educated in Stanly County schools and went to Morgan Business College.
Mrs. Small retired in 1997 as postmaster of the Rockwell Post Office. She also worked at the Badin Post Office as postmaster. She received an outstanding service award and Postmaster of the Year award in 1988. She worked in postal service 33 years.
Mrs. Small was a member of the Gold Hill United Methodist Church, past chair person of the church council and taught adult Sunday school.
Survivors aside from her mother include: husband Thomas Small, son Eddie Small of Gold Hill, daughter Sherri S. Russell of Mt. Gilead, sister Janet B. Mabry of Jacksonville and three grandsons.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Gold Hill United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Carlton Lucas, pastor and the Rev. Ellen Harkey, former pastor. Burial at Gold Hill Cemetery.
Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell.

Billie Sue White
CHINA GROVE — Billie Sue White, 51, of 2330 W. N.C. 52, died Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001) at Northeast Medical Center in Concord.
Born Oct. 27, 1950, in West Jefferson, N.C., to Grace Viers Sheets of Kannapolis and the late Wade Sheets, she was a South Rowan High School graduate.
Mrs. White operated a home day care for many years.
She was a member of Landis Baptist Church and Jesse Stirewalt Circle.
Survivors include her husband Fred White of China Grove, son Scott White of Rockwell, daughter Jenny Starnes of China Grove, sisters Eva Hunter, Wanda-Honeycutt and Brenda Morris of Kannapolis and Betty Evans of China Grove and three grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Landis Baptist Church, led by the Rev. Billy Honeycutt, the Rev. Ted Ragsdael and the Rev. Richard Horn. Burial at the West Lawn Memorial Park.

Dudley Guy Wilson
LANDIS — Dudley Guy Wilson, 88, of 407 W. Davis St.,died Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001) at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis after a lengthy illness.
Born May 9, 1913, in Mitchell County, he is the son of the late Green B. Wilson and Lockie Alice Young Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was employed with Cannon Mills Co. Plant #1 where he was overseer in #4 carding and spinning departments for 40 years until he retired in 1975. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis where he was active with the Wyatt Sunday school class, Keen-agers Senior Citizens groups and various church activities.
He had been a resident of the area since 1937.
Survivors include: wife LaRue Parrish Wilson, son Norman B. Wilson of Richfield, daughter Janice Wilson Henson of Laurel Springs, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, led by the Rev. Tom Cabaniss and the Rev. Norman Brisson. Burial at Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

ALBEMARLE — Robert Eugene Witmyer, 54, of 1632 West Park Avenue, died Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2001) at Mercy Hospital.
