MOORESVILLE — Ruth Robertson Alexander, 89, 755 Pine St., died Monday (Nov. 12, 2001) at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, S.C.
Born May 12, 1912, in Iredell County, Mrs. Alexander was a daughter of the late John A. and Rosey Beatty Robertson. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Frank P. “Bud” Alexander, died in 1987.
Survivors include daughter Doris Alexander Ussery, Rock Hill, S.C.; sisters Mary Barkley and Lillian Dennis, both of Mooresville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

GOLD HILL — The funeral will be Wednesday for Eva Elizabeth Trexler Drye, 87, formerly of Gold Hill, who died Sunday (Nov. 11, 2001) at Genesis ElderCare of Salisbury.
Born Feb. 14, 1914, in Rowan County, Mrs. Drye was a daughter of the late Braxton Cleveland and Etta Mae Miller Trexler. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and Women’s Christian Service.
Her husband, Herbert A. Drye, died June 27, 1995; a daughter, Geraldine Drye, died in November 1943; and another daughter, Marjorie Almond, died July 30, 1999.
Survivors include sons Alvin and Harold Drye, both of Gold Hill; other daughters Norma Jean Goodman, Vetra Culp and Faye Safrit, all of Rockwell, Hilda Steel, Charleston, S.C., Eleanor Efird, Gold Hill, Carolyn McDonald, Wilkesboro, and Lois Fortune, Salisbury; sisters Ethel Mae Honbarrier and Kathryn Monroe, both of Salisbury; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Bethlehem United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. J. Carlton Lucas, pastor, and the Rev. Billy Ervin, former pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30. Burial, church cemetery.

GREENSBORO — William “W.T.” Graves of Greensboro, a Rowan County native, died Sunday (Nov. 11, 2001) at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

Rodney D. Helms
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Wednesday for Rodney Douglas Helms, 61, 1101 S. Ridge Ave., who died Friday (Nov. 9, 2001) at his home.
Born March 13, 1940, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Helms was a son of Emma Hartsell Helms Fulham, Kannapolis, and the late Roscoe Helms.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he also served in the U.S. Army for four years. After retiring, he was a recruiter with the Navy for four years. He was a member of the VFW.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include son Steven Douglas Helms, Kannapolis; and sister Kay Pethel, Kannapolis.

Ila Arnold Hutchins
The funeral will be Thursday for Ila Mae Arnold Hutchins, 92, 502 S. Clay St., who died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after two days of serious illness.
Born Dec. 6, 1908, in Oglethorpe, Ga., Mrs. Hutchins was a daughter of the late George and Lola Gholston Arnold. She was educated in the Oglethorpe schools.
A retired homemaker, she was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church and Missionary Circle 4. She was a deaconess.
Her husband, Frank Hutchins, died in 1985, and a son, Enjoy Hutchins, died in 1964.
Survivors include niece reared in the home Jessie Kimble, Atlanta, Ga.; sisters Geneva Powers, Colbert, Ga., and Virgirnetty Bolton, Atlanta, Ga.; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Born Feb. 4, 1926, in Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Ramey, a daughter of the late Van Buren and Nellie Reid Mayhew, was a retired textile worker. She was a member of Abundant Life Foursquare Church.
Her first husband, Quincey Foster, died in 1992.
