Pauline Bush Bennett
Pauline Alma Bush Bennett, 69, 703 W. Fisher St., died
Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at The Laurels of Salisbury.
Born Jan. 13, 1932, in Davie County, Mrs. Bennett was a
daughter of the late Aaron and Ruby Hill Bush. She was educated in Rowan County schools
and retired from Fieldcrest Cannon.
She was a member of Mount Zion CME Church, where she was an
usher, deaconess and member of the 11 a.m. Bible Study Group, Senior Choir, Pastors
Aid and Missionary Society.
Survivors include husband Ruben F. Bob Bennett;
daughters Linda Walker Ellis, China Grove, and Sandra Moon Brown, Salisbury; brothers
Freddie Bush, New York, Johnny Bush, Lexington, and Benjamin Bush, Winston-Salem; sisters
Gracie Smith and Jeanette Bush, both of Salisbury, Claudine Perkins and Annie Corley, both
of New York, and Ruby Goodson, Winston-Salem; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren;
and several great-great-grandchildren.

Theoria Blackwell
CLINTON Theoria Staughn Blackwell, 85, of 733 North
West Blvd., died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Born in 1916 in Rowan County, Mrs. Blackwell was a daughter
of the late Dennis and Verta Staughn.
She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church, where she
was a Sunday school teacher, and is a retired teacher with the Sampson County Schools.
Survivors include husband James Jr. Blackwell; and sisters
Daisy Beaver, Salisbury, and Leaora Staughn, Concord.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Grove Park Baptist Church,
conducted by the Rev. Michael Shook. Burial, Grandview Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Royal Hall Funeral Home, and at
other times at the home.
Lois Francis Boring
Lois Francis Boring, 88, Salisbury, formerly of Pompano
Beach, Fla., died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at the home of a niece, Pat Branning of
Salisbury.
Born March 18, 1913, in Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Boring was a
daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Sadie Belle Wiseman Anderson. She graduated from
Maury High School in Norfolk, Va., and was a bookkeeper for her husband, who was the
original illustrator and creator of the Superman comic character.
She was past president and treasurer of the Pompano Beach,
Fla., Womens Club and was affiliated with the Salisbury First Presbyterian Church,
Salisbury Womens Club and Symphony Guild of Salisbury.
Her husband, Wayne Boring, preceded her in death.
Survivors include brother Carleton Thomas Anderson,
Thomasville.
Services: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel,
conducted by Dr. Robert M. Lewis, minister, First Presbyterian Church. The body will be
cremated.
Visitation: 3:30-4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

FRANKLIN Bessie Jane Helton Greer, 94, died Friday
(Nov. 9, 2001) at the home of a daughter, Glenda Adams, in Franklin.
She had taught school in North Carolina for 42 years, in
Rowan, Polk, Gaston, McDowell and Henderson counties.
Graveside services were held Sunday at Coopers Gap
Baptist Church cemetery, Mill Spring.

MYRTLE BEACH Ora Lee Murph, 85, of The Lakes at
Litchfield, formerly of Concord, died Thursday (Nov. 8, 2001) at Georgetown Memorial
Hospital.
A sister, Evelyn Baity, lives in Concord.

CONCORD Joshua Adam Smith, 20, Concord, died Sunday
(Nov. 11, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center.

Luther M. Wright
KANNAPOLIS Luther Marvin Wright, 85, of Avante at
Concord, formerly of East 10th Street, died Sunday (Nov. 11, 2001) at the nursing center.
Born Feb. 1, 1916, in Anson County, Mr. Wright was a son of
the late Owen W. Wright and the late Dezzie Curlee Wright Parnell.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II and
retired several years ago from Cannon Mills.
His wife, Rosie Fleetwood Wright, died May 22, 1987.
Survivors include stepfather Howard Parnell, Landis;
sisters Rosa Carpenter, Morganton, and Susie W. Fink, Newell; and brothers Leonard C.
Wright, Kannapolis, and Frank Parnell, Landis.
Services: Graveside service, 11 this morning, West Lawn
