Lois Frances Boring, 88, of Salisbury, died Saturday (Nov.
10, 2001) at the home of her niece in Salisbury.

MOORESVILLEEdward Ed Eugene Brooks, 93,
166 Marietta Road, formerly of Kannapolis, died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at the home of
his daughter after four weeks of serious illness and a year of declining health.
Born July 27, 1908, in Whitmire, S.C., Mr. Brooks was the
son of the late Thomas Lawrence and Bessie Knox Brooks.
He retired from Cannon Mills as a loom fixer in the weave
room of Plant 4 in Kannapolis.
Wife Bonnie Childers Brooks died on Sept. 7, 1978.
Survivors include daughters Dottie Brooks Whitesides,
Sylva, and Joanne Brooks Blanton, Kannapolis; sons Olin Eugene Brooks, Mooresville, and
Edward O. Brooks, Troutman; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and two
great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Monday, Ladys Funeral Home chapel,
conducted by the Rev. J. Davis Whitesides Sr. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. At other
times, the family will be at the home of Joanne Brooks Blanton, 403 York Ave.

William Furches
MOCKSVILLEWilliam Franklin Furches, 92, Yadkinville
Road, died Friday (Nov. 9, 2001) at Davis Hospital, Statesville.
Born March 12, 1909, in Davie County, Mr. Furches was a son
of the late Cornelia Judson James Furches and John David Furches Sr.
He retired with 27 years of service with REA. He was a
member of Farmington Baptist Church and Farmington Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dora Lucile Wagner
Furches; son Dwain Furches, Gastonia; daughter Reba Furches, Hendersonville; sisters Annie
Lois Grant, Mocksville, Julia James, Fredricksburg, Va., and Sarah Louis Parker and Vashti
Sugg, both of Greensboro; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Eaton Funeral Home, conducted by
the Rev. Ken Furches. Burial, Eatons Baptist Church cemetery.

Ida Mae Arnold Hutchins, 92, 502 Clay St., died Saturday
(Nov. 10, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after being seriously ill for two days.

Charles Kluttz Jr.
Charles Alexander Kluttz Jr., 68, of Salisbury, died
Saturday (Nov. 10, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 14, 1933 in Rowan County, Mr. Kluttz was a son of
the late Charles Alexander and Bessie Canup Kluttz. He was educated in the Rowan County
Schools and graduated from Woodleaf High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a division engineer for the N.C. Department of
Transportation before retiring.
A member of the Franklin Presbyterian Church, he served as
an elder, Sunday school teacher and clerk for the Session Member of Gideon International.
He was a member of the Mens Bible Class.
Survivors include sisters Mabel K. Lingle and Lois K. Webb,
both of Salisbury.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Franklin Presbyterian Church,
conducted by the Dr. Larry Summey, minister of the church. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Summersett Funeral Home. At
other times, the family will be at their respective homes.

Grace Earp Wyatt
Grace Earp Wyatt, 72, of Salisbury, died Saturday (Nov. 10,
2001) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
Born Feb. 10, 1929, in Hopewell, Va., Mrs. Wyatt was a
daughter of the late Charles M. and Iva Jones Parks.
She was educated at schools in Hopewell, Va., attended a
school of cosmetology and worked as a beautician in Salisbury for many years.
She was a charter member of the Milford Hills Baptist
Church.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde W.
Earp, and her second husband, Howard Wyatt.
Survivors include son Larry Earp, Brick, N.J.; daughter
Linda Lee Earp, Kissimmee, Fla.; sisters Dorothy Rimmer and Mabel Crouch, both of
Salisbury, and Lucy Wiener, Boca Raton, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
