Osco C. Barringer

The funeral will be Tuesday for Osco Clarence Barringer, 91, Salisbury, who died Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001) in Jacksonville, Fla., at the home of his daughter, Joyce Barringer Bost, after a period of declining health.

Born Oct. 25, 1910, in Rowan County, Mr. Barringer, a son of the late John H. and Ollie Hill Barringer, was educated in the Rowan County schools. He retired after 50 years from the Rowan County School Bus Garage at age 85.

He was a Methodist.

His wife, Nealie Hinson Barringer, died Feb. 28, 1993.

Survivors, in addition to his daughter, include son Gary Barringer, Clemmons; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Lyerly Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Diane Marsden, pastor, Arcadia United Methodist Church, Clemmons. Burial,Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation:6:30-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Robert ‘Doc’ Cronan

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Tuesday for Robert Eugene “Doc” Cronan, who died Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after four weeks of serious illness.

Born in Jasper County, Ga., Mr. Cronan was a son of the late Jasper Eugene and Josephine F. Cronan. A retired Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy, he also retired as a jeweler with Whitmire Jewelers.

He was a member of Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the Morocco Temple, Order of the Eastern Star, Cabarrus Shrine CLub, Kannapolis Lions Club, American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association and Magna Chapter. He was also a member of First Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel.

His wife, Margaret Hurley Whitmire Cronan, preceded him in death.

Survivors include stepson J.D. Whitmire, Owings, Md.; and one granddaughter.

Services: Graveside, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Plaza Crypts, Carolina Memorial Park.

Lady’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Elizabeth Dyrholm

The funeral will be Tuesday for Elizabeth Dyrholm, 92, 820 Klumac Road, who died Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Dyrholm was born Sept. 19, 1909, in Philadelphia, Pa. She was an assistant manager for Gimbels Department Store, Philadelphia, Pa.

Her husband, Svend Dyrholm, preceded her in death.

Survivors include son Ivan Dyrholm, Salisbury; daughter Johanna Schoeppl, Maldova; brother Frank Orant, New Jersey; sister Dorothy Cannon, Florida; and three granddaughters.

Services: Memorial, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Griffis, pastor, First United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Sherri Barnes, associate pastor. The body will be cremated. Burial will be held at a later date inPennsylvania.

Visitation: None.

Memorials: Habitat for Humanity, c/o First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Church St., Salisbury, NC 28144.

 

Mary Barger Hendrix

Mary Katherine Barger Hendrix, 75, Salisbury, died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Myrtle S. Seagraves

Myrtle Mae Stoneman Seagraves, 69, Salisbury, died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
