Elaine K. Barringer

Elaine Kleckner Barringer, 71, Salisbury, died Wednesday (May 30, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Nannie Mills Beaver

CLEVELAND — Nannie Mills Beaver, 74, Cleveland, died Monday (May 28, 2001) at Genesis ElderCare, Mooresville, after a lengthy illness.

Born June 3, 1926, in Rowan County, Mrs. Beaver was a daughter of the late Lawrence Denver and Nannie Leab Mills. She was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Her husband, Robert Lee Beaver, died Sept. 18, 1982, and a son, Gary Denver Beaver, died Aug. 15, 1988.

Survivors include sons Milton and Phillip Robert Beaver, both of Cleveland; sisters Lottie Owens, Salisbury, and Roberta Blackwelder, Mooresville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, Statesville, conducted by J.C. West.Burial,Iredell Memorial Gardens, Statesville.

Mary Geneva Bowers

OAKBORO — Mary Geneva Bowers, 80, 20413 Austin Road, died Tuesday (May 29, 2001) at Universal Health Care.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle. Burial, Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of brother M.L. Bowers, 20605 Austin Road, Albemarle.

 

Frances Jordan Cline

KANNAPOLIS — Frances Jordan Cline, 81, 1833 N. Cannon Blvd., died Tuesday (May 29, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after a period of declining health.

Born Feb. 15, 1920, in China Grove, Mrs. Cline was a daughter of the late George Edward and Lillie Viola Eagle Jordan. She attended Harris Chapel School, China Grove.

Retired from Cannon Mills plant 1 sewing department, she attended North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church.

Her husband, J.D. Cline, died Aug. 10, 1972.

Survivors include son Tony Edward Cline,Landis; daughters Juliann Cline Wood, Landis, and Kay Cline Baker, Kannapolis; sister HelenJordan Blair, China Grove; and three grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Northcrest Chapel, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home,China Grove, conducted by the Rev.Edwin Luther. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park, Concord.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

 

LaTavia Everhart

LaTavia Michelle Everhart, infant daughter of Calvin Everhart and LaTonya White, 321 Woodson St., died Tuesday (May 29, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center shortly after birth.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include maternal grandparents Angela Ellis, Salisbury, and Barney White,Lexington; paternal grandparent Ollie Alexander, Salisbury; maternal great-grandmother Juanita Richardson,China Grove; paternal great-grandmother Mary Johnson, Salisbury; paternal great-great-grandfather Ray Everhart,Salisbury; maternal great-great-grandmother Savannah Payne, Cooleemee; and maternal great-great-grandfather William White, Salisbury.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.

The family will be at the home of maternal grandmother Angela Ellis, 2130 Harrison Road.

 

Nicholas Lynn Evick

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Friday for Nicholas Lynn Evick, 3-year-old son of Bradford “Brad” and Stephanie Stegall Evick, 203 Horne St., who died Monday (May 28, 2001) at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

The child was born March 14, 1998, in Concord.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include brothers Andrew and Tyler Evick, of the home; grandparents Robert and Sheri Evick, Kannapolis, and Max and Dena Stegall, China Grove; and great-grandparents Russell Evick, Elkins, W.Va., and Doris Weese and Mozelle Keene, both of Kannapolis.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Willie Rash. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Margaret P. Lewis

The funeral will be Friday for Margaret Page Lewis, 94, Salisbury, who died Monday (May 28, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born Dec. 14, 1906, in Burke County, she was daughter of the late Silas and Lola Page. Mrs. Lewis was educated in Burke County schools and business college in Winston-Salem.

A homemaker, she was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class.

Her husband, L.G. Lewis, preceded her in death.

Survivors include son Thomas E. Lewis, Salisbury; daughters Margaret “Peggy” Glasco, Salisbury, with whom she lived, and Beryl Gardner, Victoria, Texas; sister Frances Lowder, Salisbury; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Lingerfelt

Robert Edward Lingerfelt, 9, 220 Panfish Lane, died Wednesday (May 30, 2001) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Sue Cox Miller

The funeral will be Thursday for Sue Cox Miller, 64, 417 Wiley Ave., who died Monday (May 28, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 20, 1937, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Miller, a daughter of the late Fred and Mildred Barringer Cox, was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She was a homemaker.

A member of Maupin Avenue Presbyterian Church, she was in the church choir.

Her husband, Ralph Walker Miller, died April 19, 1990.

Survivors include son David F. Miller, China Grove; daughters Terry Fesperman and Patti Chaffin, both of Salisbury; and five grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday,Maupin Avenue Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Fred H.Crisco. Burial, 2 p.m., National Cemetery,Salisbury.

Fred B. Phillips

LEXINGTON — Fred Baxter Phillips, 73, Phillips Lane, died Monday (May 28, 2001) at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Central Baptist Church. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Phillips Lane.

 

Joyce Helen Pope

Joyce HelenPope, 74, formerly of Woodleaf and Cleveland, died Wednesday (May 30, 2001) at Heritage Plantation, Salisbury.

Born Nov. 7, 1926, in Rowan County, Miss Pope, a daughter of the late Lonie Kenerly and Doll Dixon Pope, was educated in the Woodleaf schools. She was a member of Woodleaf United Methodist Church.

A piano player, she played at several churches. She spent most of her adult life in the care of Jim and Jean Earnhardt.

Survivors, in addition to the Earnhardts, include brothers Ivan Hoyt Pope, Salisbury, D.D. Pope Jr., Atlanta, Ga.; and sister Bonnie Pope Houck Goodnight, Salisbury.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Woodleaf United Methodist Church, Woodleaf, conducted by the Rev. Brenda Newman. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 1:30-2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Pearl Brogdon Stiers

LEXINGTON — Pearl Brogdon Stiers, 81, Green Meadows Drive, died Monday (May 28, 2001) atLexington Memorial Hospital.

Lois B. Trexler

MOCKSVILLE — A graveside service will be Saturday for Lois Bess Boyer Trexler, 80, Mocksville, and formerly of Rowan County, who died at Monday (May 28, 2001) at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem after a serious illness of several days.

Born March 4, 1921, in Cocke County, Tenn., she was daughter of the late Leander William and Verdie Blanchard Boyer. She was educated in Cocke County Schools and retired from Cone Mills. Mrs. Trexler belonged to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Mocksville, and the Mocksville YMCA.

Her husband, Ervin Quincey Trexler, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters Mary Ann Andrews, Mocksville, with whom she lived, and Sharon Dorinda Goodman and Frances Nanette Harris, both of Salisbury; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Reichley, interim pastor, Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Elizabeth F. Wiseman

The funeral will be Thursday for Elizabeth Fleming Wiseman, 728 Klumac Road No. 240-C, who died Monday (May 28, 2001) at The Laurels of Salisbury.

Born in Woodleaf, Mrs. Wiseman was a daughter of the late NathanNeely and Bessie Berfoot McKinney. She was a graduate of Woodleaf High School, Montreat College and George Washington University, Washington, D.C.

She was employed by the North Carolina State Department of Agriculture in Raleigh and with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Atlanta, Ga., and Minneapolis, Minn. A botanist, she specialized in seed analysis.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Circle Five of the Presbyterian Women.

Her husband, Herbert Goodwin Wiseman, died April 17, 1994.

Survivors include sister Julia Fleming Wood, Graham,Texas.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, First Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. Robert Lewis, pastor, and the Rev. Malcolm Bullock, interim pastor,Unity Presbyterian Church, Woodleaf. Burial, Unity Presbyterian Church cemetery, Woodleaf.
