Ned Henry Christy
TROY — Ned Henry Christy, 64, 284 Substation Road, died Friday (May 25, 2001) at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 6, 1937, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Christy was the son of Minnie Herman Christy of Kannapolis and the late Nathan H. Christy. He spent 25 years with Cannon Mills Co., first in the sewing room at Plant 1 and later as supervisor of cleaning in Plant 4. Mr. Christy attended the Troy Church of God after moving to Troy in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Williams Christy; daughters Sherry Jones, Mooresville, and Sheila Burris, Rockwell; son Terry Christy, China Grove; stepson Billy Moose, Kannapolis; stepdaughter Tammy Watson, Asheboro; sister Shelby Anderson, Kannapolis; brother Guy Christy, Mooresville; and 11 grandchildren.
Services: Monday, 3:30 p.m., Whitley’s Funeral Home. Burial, Kannapolis Cemetery.
Visitation: Tonight, 7 to 9, at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of his mother at 955 N. Cannon Blvd.

George Clark
ROCKWELL — George Melvin Clark, 75, 5985 Old Beatty Ford Road, died Saturday (May 26, 2001) at his home after being seriously ill for three weeks.

Pauline F. Cline
KANNAPOLIS — Pauline Fisher Cline, 93, formerly of South Main Street, died Thursday (May 24, 2001) at the Stanley Total Living Center after seven years of declining health and five days of serious illness.
Born Sept. 12, 1907, in Mount Pleasant, Mrs. Cline was the daughter of the late William Baxter and Jesse Crowell Fisher. She was a graduate of the Mont Ameona Seminary in Mount Pleasant. Retired from the Cabarrus County tax department, she was an member of Center Grove Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Cline.
Survivors include daughters Polly C. Whitley, Cornelius, and Margaret Cline, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and sister Adelaide Ingle of Charlotte.
Services: Graveside, 3 p.m Tuesday, Center Grove Lutheran Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Zachariah Harris.
Visitation: In the church fellowship hall following the service.

ALBEMARLE — Beatrice Hiott “Miss Bea” Fagan, 91, 924 Pee Dee Ave., died Saturday (May 26, 2001) at her residence.

Narvie Jerry Kesler
Narvie Jerry Kesler, 64, Salisbury, died Tuesday (May 22, 2001) at his residence.
Born March 19, 1937, in Rowan County, Mr. Kesler was the son of the late Verna Parker and WIlliam Joseph Kesler. He was educated in the Rowan County schools. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he had retired from Kern Roll and Rubber Co. He was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include brothers Robert L. Kesler and Roy Henry Kesler and sister Jennie Kesler Lemley, all of Salisbury.
Services: Graveside, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Salisbury National Cemetery, conducted by VA chaplain. Military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council. No visitation.

Mary Rumple
KANNAPOLIS —Mary Overcash Rumple, 94, 5830 Wright Road, died at her residence Friday (May 25, 2001).
Born Jan. 16, 1907, in Rowan County, Mrs. Rumple was the daughter of the late Rella Rogers and George Leonard “Mack” Overcash. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Leslie Rumple.
Survivors include son George M. Rumple, Kannapolis; sister Esther Sloop, Kannapolis; brothers John Overcash and Cammie Overcash, both of Kannapolis; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services: Graveside, Monday at 2 p.m., St.Enoch Lutheran Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. John Mark Beam III.

Alzira M. Siquiera
KANNAPOLIS — Alzira Martha Siquiera, 82, 187 Briarcliff Drive, died Saturday (May 26, 2001) at Avante of Concord Nursing Center, Concord, after a year of declining health.
Born Nov. 16, 1917, in Goa, India, she was the daughter of the late Rumeldo and Rogaciano Coutinho Carvalho. A homemaker, she had lived in the United States since 1977.
Her husband, Francisco Siqueira, died Aug. 25, 1985.
Survivors include daughters Finiana Deal, Kannapolis, and Zita Rodney, Stark, Fla.; three sisters; and a grandson.
Services: A funeral Mass is planned for Tuesday in Starke, Fla.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, DeWitt C. Jones Funeral Home, Starke, Fla.

Ernest Waller
KANNAPOLIS — Ernest Franklin Waller, 80, died Friday (May 25, 2001) at Big Elm Nursing Center, where he was a resident.
Born July 9, 1920, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Waller was the son of the late Samuel and Minnie Ervin Waller. He was educated in the Cabarrus County schools. Retired since 1986 from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, he spent many years in the weave room and later worked as a night watchman. He was a member of Miller Street Baptist Church.
His wife, Lora Farrell Waller, died Oct. 5, 1990. A daughter, Carol Varner, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons the Rev.Sonny Waller and Clyde Waller, both of Kannapolis; daughters Sheila Goodwin and Linda Parson, both of Kannapolis; sister Ada Perkins, Kannapolis; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services: 4:30 p.m. Monday, Whitley’s Funeral Home, conducted by his son, the Rev. Sonny Waller. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
