Letter to the Editor

League loves South

SALISBURY POST

Certain media reporters have given false information to the public as to what the League of the South is all about. Ignorance plays some part in this. However, the majority of it is bigotry toward the Southland and her people.

As president of the Zebulon B. Vance Chapter of the League of the South here in our beloved city of Salisbury, I should clear up a few things. We welcome all Southerners who love the old Confederacy and her people and believe in Christian values to join this great and noble organization, regardless of race, age, sex, or even if you’re born in the North. We believe in the real form of government, which is the republic, and we have no desire for North America — and especially the old states of the Confederacy — to become a third-world country.

Therefore, we do not support the socialist programs of diversity training or those who persist in compromising our Southern birthright. Our identity and our heritage, as well as our values, are no longer for sale. Gen. Robert E. Lee finally came to realize that it is far better to die a free man, than to live under the heel of tyranny. This was when he had regrets about surrendering at Gettysburg.

God save the South!

— John T. Nall
