Roy Allen Eagle
ROCKWELL — Roy Allen Eagle, 65,
Rockwell, died Wednesday (May 16, 2001) at his home.
Born Aug. 31, 1935, in Rowan
County, Mr. Eagle was a son of the late Allie Ed and Nettie Mae Moore Eagle. He
was educated at Winecoff High School.
In 1998, he retired from North
Carolina Finishing Co. after 45 years of service. A member of Clermont Freewill
Baptist Church, Kannapolis, he was in the Men’s Sunday School Class and was a
church musician.
A son, Timothy D. Eagle, died in
1993.
Survivors include wife Beatrice
Lambert Eagle, whom he married in October 1952; sons Roy Allen “Sonny”Eagle
Jr., Salisbury, and Roger Dale Eagle, Rockwell; daughters Kathy Eagle Patterson,
Rockwell, and Lana Eagle Phillips, Salisbury; brother Earl E. Eagle,Kannapolis;
sister Shirley E. Moffitt, Kannapolis; eight grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Powles

Armer Collins Evans
KANNAPOLIS — Armer Collins
Evans, 88, formerly of 2310 Woodsdale St., died Tuesday (May 15, 2001) at
Universal Health Care, Concord.
Born Oct. 5, 1912, in Madison
County, Ga., Mrs. Evans was a daughter of the late Francis Ervin and Mary Jane
Duckworth Collins. She retired in 1979 after many years with Roses Department
Store,Kannapolis.
She was a member of First Baptist
Church of Enochville.
Her husband, William Edwin Evans,
died March 29, 1989. She was also preceded in death by daughters Sue Barker and
Mildred Evans and a granddaughter.
Survivors include sons William
and Carl R. Evans, both of Kannapolis; daughters Judy E. Miller, Kannapolis, and
Shelia E. Morton, China Grove; sister Sarah Zeffrey Duckworth, Comer, Ga.; 15
grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

79, Rockwell, died Wednesday (May 16, 2001) at his home.

Marvin Adeauris “A.D.” McIntyre, 20, 210Henderlite St., who died Sunday (May
13, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Guy Poplin
The funeral will be Friday for
Guy Poplin, 81, Salisbury, who died Wednesday (May 16, 2001) at Autumn Care of
Salisbury after 3 12 years of declining health and six weeks of serious illness.
Born Sept. 20, 1919, in
Albemarle, Mr.Poplin, a son of the late Joseph and Gertrude Gudger Poplin, was
educated in the Stanly County schools and was a graduate of Richfield High
School.
He was a flight instructor in
four government service-related programs and served in the U.S. Army, where he
went to Japanese Language School. He served in Tokyo, Manila and Okinawa in Army
Intelligence.
He went to work with Southern
Airways in 1950 and retired in 1979. He flew 30 different airplanes and taught
75 students to fly. He was a member of the Airline Pilots Association, the Rowan
Area EAA Chapter 1083 and was awarded the first Annual Lifetime Allegiance to
Aviation Award.
He was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include wife Elizabeth
Bost Poplin, whom he married May 23, 1967; stepdaughters Raphelle “Bo” Smith
Butler and Cheryl “Cherry” Smith Lockert, both of Salisbury; three
stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday,
Summersett Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev.Robert Sherer, a retired
minister from Statesville. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, China
Grove.

the funeral home.

Esther Lanier Taylor
Esther Lanier Taylor, 80,
Salisbury, died Wednesday (May 16, 2001) at her home.
Born Jan. 30, 1921, in Randolph
County, Mrs.Taylor, a daughter of the late William E. and Fannie Cranford
Lanier, was educated at New Hope School, Randolph County.
A homemaker, she was a member of
Faith Alive Fellowship Church, Kannapolis, and Lafayette Nutrition Center.
Her husband, William E. Taylor,
died Oct. 26, 1993.
Survivors include daughter Joyce
T. Tucker, Salisbury; sister Rose L. Hicks, Troy; three grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.

Charles E. Vanhoose
The funeral will be Saturday for
Charles Edgar Vanhoose, 66, Salisbury, who died Tuesday (May 15, 2001) at Rowan
Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in
March.
Born May 27, 1934, in Wayne
County, Mr. Vanhoose, a son of the late Bee and Mary Tabor Vanhoose, was
educated in the Wayne County, W.Va. schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Vanhoose was a truck driver
for Blue Max Trucking Co. An ordained minister through the United Christian
Church and Ministerial Association, he worked with South China Grove Church of
God.
A son, James Paul Vanhoose
preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife Hazel
Mormon Vanhoose, whom he married Aug. 15, 1966; sons John Edgar Vanhoose,
Stockton, Calif., Timothy B. and David Andrew Vanhoose, both of Salisbury, and
Charles D. Vanhoose, Akron, Ohio; daughters Rebekah L. Abernathy, Salisbury, and
Sharon Alequin, Florida; sister Georgia Russell, Rittman, Ohio; and 11
grandchildren.
