Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Martin Lutheran Church. Burial, church cemetery.

Joe Freeman
CONCORD — Joe Freeman, 97, 314 Sycamore Ave., died Sunday (April 29, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center.
Born Feb. 7, 1904, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Freeman, the son of the late Robert and Betty Herring Freeman, was a Baptist. He worked as a picker runner with Cannon Mills.
Survivors include wife Beulah Mae Freeman; daughter Edith Barbee, Concord; sons Earl Lane Freeman, Midland, James Walter Freeman, Salisbury, and Joe Fred and Marshall Wayne Freeman, both of Concord; daughter Betty Kepley, Midland; sister Mae Swing, Kannapolis; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, conducted by the Rev. Winfred Kimball, the Rev. David Beaver and the Rev. James Shoemaker. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Fred Freeman, 501 Little Creek Lane.

‘Dude’ Thompson Jr.
CHINA GROVE — The funeral will be Friday for Lee Pembleton “Dude” Thompson Jr., 78, 12 Walnut St., who died Sunday (April 29, 2001) at his home.
Born April 23, 1923, in Stanly County, Mr. Thompson was a son of the late Lee Pemberton and Annie Mills Thompson. He was educated in the Rowan County schools.
A Baptist, he had retired from China Grove Cotton Mill.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home chapel,China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Derald Adams. Graveside, 2 p.m. Friday, Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle.
Visitation: 10:30-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ruth Trexler Wilhelm
CHINA GROVE — Ruth Trexler Wilhelm, 68, 821 Laurel Ave., Chesapeake, Va., a China Grove native, died Monday (April 30, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Born Sept. 5, 1932 in China Grove, Mrs. Wilhelm was a daughter of the late Clarence N. and Mamie Frye Trexler. She was a graduate of China Grove High School.
Retired, she was a PBX operator and receptionist for Goodman-Seagar-Hogan Realty Co., Norfolk, Va. She was a member of Eastminister Presbyterian Church and the Indian River Senior Club in Virginia Beach, Va.
Survivors include husband of 49 years Sidney E. Wilhelm; sons Sidney E. Wilhelm Jr. and Robert E. Wilhelm, both of Chesapeake, Va.; brother Clarence Trexler Jr., China Grove; sister Bettie Trexler O’Brien, China Grove; and two granddaughters.
Services will be held at a later date in Virginia Beach,Va.

Kathleen R. Webb
ROCKWELL —The funeral will be Wednesday for Kathleen Reynolds Webb, 84, Rockwell, who died Sunday (April 29, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after a period of declining health.
Born April 12, 1917, in Wise County,Va., Mrs. Webb was a daughter of the late Samuel P. and Eliza Flanary Reynolds. She was educated in the Wise County,Va., schools. A homemaker, she was a member of Jehovah’s Witness Southeast Congregation, Old Concord Road, Salisbury.
Survivors include husband James A Webb, whom she married Nov. 23, 1978; sons Harve Clarence Hartford, Cleveland, Roy Hartford,Gold Hill, and Bruce Hartford, Cookeville, Tenn.; daughters Margaret Lowry, of the home, and Lynda Hartford, Bakersfield, Calif.; stepson Jimmy Webb, Salisbury; 29 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Lyerly Funeral Home chapel,Salisbury, conducted by Eddie Burkett. Burial, Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
