It is described as “The story of a spunky woman, a stray dog, a teen-age delinquent, and the best home-cooking in Listre, North Carolina.”
This stage adaptation of “Walking Across Egypt” was created especially by Piedmont Players.
Mattie Rigsbee is undeniably feisty, and determined to meet head-on the challenges of aging — “slowing down,” as she calls it — staying independent and living alone.
When she feeds a stray dog that appears on her doorstep, little does she realize he heralds the arrival of a host of unexpected decisions in her life, in the form of the dog-catcher and his teen-age delinquent nephew, neither of whom ever turn down the chance for a home-cooked meal.
“Walking Across Egypt” is as warm, Southern, and soul-satisfying as hot biscuits straight from the oven.

Mattie’s neighbor, Finner, will be played by Douglas T. Paris of Rockwell.
