Earl Allison
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will
be Saturday for Earl Castor Allison, 80, 2960 Centergrove Road, who died
Wednesday (March 21, 2001).
Born March 19, 1921, in
Mecklenburg County, Mr. Allison was a son of the late William Scott and Sadie
Belle Castor Allison. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired in 1986 from Cannon
Mills No. 1 spinning room.
His wife, Margaret Simmons
Allison, died Oct. 19, 1968.
Survivors include daughter Sandra
Kay Allison Beaver, Georgia; son Earl Scott Allison, Kannapolis; sisters Rosalee
Payette, Massachusetts, Mary Joines, Banner Elk, Nancy Jane Marrow, Chapel Hill,
and Katherine Farmer, Charlotte; brothers William Scott Allison Jr. and Richard
Leon Allison, both of Huntersville, and Benard Allison Harbin, Titus, Ala.;
three grandchildren; and four grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday,
Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth McQueen.
Burial,Center Grove Lutheran Church cemetery.
Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the
funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of son Earl Scott
Allison, 2940 Centergrove Road.
Betty Koontz Bean
SPENCER — Betty Marie Koontz
Bean, 77, Spencer, died Thursday (March 22, 2001) at her home after a period of
declining health.
Born May 1, 1923, in Rowan
County, Mrs. Bean was a daughter of the late William Harrison and Mamie Jane
Neal Koontz. She was educated in the Rowan County schools.
She retired from Cannon Mills
after 44 years. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church, the Sunday school
class and the Women’s Circle.
Her husband, Raymond Floyd Bean,
died Feb. 7, 1989, and a son, Larry Julian Bean, died Jan. 7, 2001.
Survivors include brothers Walter
Grady Koontz, Salisbury, and Odell Koontz, Spencer; and sister Lois Eller,
Spencer.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday,
Lyerly Funeral Home Chapel, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Robert Heard.
Burial,Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.

KANNAPOLIS — Ruth Brooks
Campbell died Thursday (March 22, 2001) at the home of a son, Steve Campbell,
504 N. Ridge Ave.
Born Sept. 23, 1928, in
Chesterfield County, S.C., Mrs. Campbell was a daughter of the late Walter L.
and Effie Davis Brooks. She retired from Cannon Mills Co. plant 1 No. 6 weave
room and attended Central Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her
son, include daughter Tammy Renee Campbell, Rockwell; sons Kenneth L. Campbell,
China Grove, and Eddie and Jeffrey Linn Campbell, both of Kannapolis; sisters
Sadie Traskiewics, Rockwell, Kathleen Wallace, Polkton, and Daisy Hudson,
Darlington, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday,
David’s Grove Baptist Church, Chesterfield, S.C., conducted by the Rev. Dean
Hunter and the Rev. Darrell Hatchell.The body will be placed in the church at
1:30. Burial, church cemetery.

James McCauley
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will
be Monday for James “Big Jim” McCauley, 65, 513 Rosemont Ave., who died
Tuesday (March 20, 2001) at his home.
Born April 26, 1935, in
Mecklenburg County, Mr. McCauley was a son of the late Robert McCain and Annie
McCauley. He was employed by Fieldcrest Cannon for 36 years.
Survivors include daughters
Carolyn McCauley, Concord, Janet M. Russell, Salisbury, and Priscilla McCauley,
Charlotte; sisters Ruby Henderson, Camden, N.J., and Elizabeth Barnette,
Baltimore, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Born Sept. 11, 1905, in
Mooresville, Mrs. Phifer, a daughter of the late Edward and Estell Reed Phifer,
was educated in the Iredell County schools. She formerly worked as a cook at
Chase’s Boarding House. She was a Baptist.
