Richard Bayne Brawley
KANNAPOLIS — Richard Bayne Brawley, 78, 304 Tanglewood Drive, died Sunday (March 18, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after two weeks of critical illness.
Born Oct. 28, 1922, in Iredell County, Mr. Brawley was a son of John H. and Mamie Caudell Brawley. He was employed by Cannon Mills Plant 1 bleachery department for 52 years before his retirement in 1989.
A member of New Hope Lutheran Church, he and his wife had been active with the youth. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he received several medals. He was a member of Poston-Perkins VFW Post.
Survivors include wife Rosa Mae Kiser Brawley; son Rick Brawley, Charlotte; daughters Barbara Taylor, Concord, and Brenda Thompson, Lexington; brother Jack Brawley, Kannapolis; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, New Hope Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Larry Bost. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park; military rites by DAV Chapter 27.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Whitley’s Funeral Home. The family will at the home the rest of the time.

The funeral will be Wednesday for Brodie Ambrose Graham, 71, 1221 Old Plank Road, who died Saturday (March 17, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center. He had been in declining health a year and seriously ill two weeks.

He was the father of Loretta Ann Losey, Kannapolis.

SPENCER — The funeral will be Thursday for Sandra Bennett Null, 42, 616 Meadow Ave., who died Sunday (March 18, 2001) at her home.
Born Nov. 9, 1958 in Rowan County, Mrs. Null was a daughter of Shirley S. Lambe of Salisbury. She graduated from North Rowan High School and attended Salisbury Business College. A homemaker, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include husband Jeffrey Null; sons Jeffrey Null II and Jamie Null, both of Spencer, and Christopher Scott Null, Salisbury; brother Thomas Alfred Bennett III, Salisbury; and sister Sheila B. Sprinkle, Salisbury.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Thursday, Rowan Memorial Park.

Annie Waller Raymer
Annie Bell Waller Raymer, 60, 2655 Miller Road, died Monday (March 19, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born March 20, 1940, in Rowan County, Mrs. Raymer was a daughter of the late Illa Mae Shue and Robert Henry Waller. She was educated in Rowan County schools and had been employed by Derrick’s Truck Stop and the Salisbury Moose Lodge.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Salisbury Moose Lodge and AMVETS Post 460.
Survivors include husband John Robert Raymer; sons John R. Raymer Jr. and Donald R. Raymer, both of Salisbury; daughter Betty R. Rainey, Salisbury; brothers Robert Waller, Portland, Ore., and Donnie Waller, Salisbury; sisters Mary Helen Myers, Woodleaf, Brenda O’Neil, Cleveland, and Marie Woodall, Canton, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Grace Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Woodrow Frick. Burial, church cemetery.

Billy L. Slone
MOUNT STERLING, Ky. — Billy L. Slone, 46, Mount Sterling, died Friday (March 16, 2001) as the result of an automobile accident in Indiana.
He was formerly of Salisbury and Lexington, N.C.
Born May 20, 1954, in Virginia, he was a son of the late Ella June Lyle and Travis Ray Slone. He attended Haysi High School in Virginia and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Slone owned and was chief mechanic of Black Sheep Aviation.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Maureen T. Allison; son Andrew L. Slone, Mount Sterling; daughter Julia A. Slone, Mount Sterling; brother Danny Slone, Lexington, N.C., Teddy Slone, Salisbury, N.C., Robert Slone, Johnson City, Tenn., and Jeffery Slone, Troy, N.C.; sisters Sheila Martin, Della James, Ella Raye Foster, Althea Kay Swing, all of Lexington, N.C., and Linda Bruff of Burke, Va.

CLEVELAND — Lorraine Phifer Smyre, 69, 106 Phifer St., died Monday (March 19, 2001) at Maple Leaf Nursing Center, Statesville, following five months of serious illness.
Born Aug. 9, 1931, in Rowan County, Ms. Smyre was a daughter of the late Myrtle Phifer and Zell Bost. She attended R.A. Clement High School.
She was a homemaker and member of Third Creek AMEZion Church, where she was also a member of the Usher Board.
There are no immediate survivors.
