Beulah L. Andrews
WINTERPARK, Fla. — Beulah L.
Andrews, 85, Albert Lee Parkway, died Friday (March 16, 2001).
A homemaker, Mrs. Andrews was a
member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Apopka, where she was a Sunday
school teacher. She was also a member of the Nazarene World Missionary Society
and the senior citizen group at her church.
Survivors include her husband,
the Rev. Clayburn M. Andrews; sons Bobby Andrews, Gallatin, Tenn., and Ken and
Duane Andrews, both of Salisbury, N.C.; daughter Maxine Smith, Orlando; 11
grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday,

Homer B. Everhart
Homer Brantford Everhart, 88,
formerly of Park Avenue, died Saturday (March 17, 2001) at Rowan Regional
Medical Center after two years of declining health.
Born Aug. 29, 1912, in Rowan
County, Mr. Everhart was the son of the late Margaret Esther Beck and Orrin
Blaine Everhart. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he worked at Cannon
Mills, Plant 7, for 45 years before retiring.
Survivors include wife Bertha
Stilley Everhart, whom he married Dec. 21, 1933; sons Henry B. “Sonny” and
Richard L. “Rip” Everhart, both of Salisbury; and two grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday,

Mary Alice Ewan
KANNAPOLIS — Mary Alice Ewan,
95, formerly of Kannapolis, died Saturday (March 17, 2001) at Carrington Place
in Matthews.
Born Feb. 7, 1906, in
Mooresville, Mrs. Ewan was the daughter of the late Thomas Branch and Carrie
McKey Smith. A former schoolteacher, she had retired from the sheet department
of Cannon Mills, Plant 1.
She was a member of Trinity
United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Crafty Ladies Class. She
was a life member and past Deputy Grand Matron of the ninth district of the
Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by
husband Robert C. Ewan and daughter Carrie May Ewan Fultz.
Survivors include sister Nora S.
Harris, Mooresville; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Brodie Graham Jr.
Brodie Ambrose Graham Jr., 71,
1221 Old Plank Road, died Saturday (March 17, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical
Center. He had been in declining health for one year and seriously ill for two
weeks.
Born May 3, 1929, in Rowan
County, Mr. Graham was the son of the late Etta Mitchell and Brodie A. Graham.
He was educated at Price High School.
He had earlier worked for a
building supply manufacturer in New York and was last employed in the
housekeeping department of the Hefner VA Medical Center. He received several
awards from the VA, including a special achievement award, and was named
employee of the month.
He was a member of Gethsemane
Baptist Church, where he sang in the Male Chorus. A U.S. Army veteran of the
Korean conflict, he was a member of J.C. Price American Legion Post No. 107.
A daughter preceded him in death.
Survivors include brother Rayford
M. Graham, Salisbury, and two grandchildren.

Jimmy D. Hatley
ALBEMARLE—Jimmy Darrell Hatley,
56, 933 Efird St., died Saturday (March 17, 2001) at home after several years of
declining health due to a truck accident.
Born Sept. 30, 1944, in Stanly
County, Mr. Hatley was the son of the late Nollie Helms and Watt Walter Hatley.
He had retired as a truck driver for Southeastern Freight Liners. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church
He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Misty DeeAnne Hatley.
Survivors include wife Betty
Carolyn Dixon Hatley; son Jimmy Darrell Hatley Jr., Albemarle; daughter Regina
Hatley Chavis, Albemarle, brother Kenneth Watt Hatley, Kannapolis; sisters Edith

Janet McCormick
Janet Schenck McCormick, 84,
Salisbury, died Friday (March 16, 2001) at her home after an extended illness.
Born Nov. 18, 1916, in Newberry,
S.C., Mrs. McCormick was the daughter of the late Caroline Jones and William
Cooper Schenck. She attended the South Carolina schools and Newberry College.
A U.S. Army veteran, she had
retired in 1972 as a major in the Army Reserves. She joined the Women’s
Auxiliary Corps during World War II and was employed by the inspector general of
the 18th Airborne at Fort Bragg. She served as the first woman president of the
Reserve Officers Association of North Carolina in 1975-76.
There are no survivors. She had
lived in the Salisbury home of a friend, Karen Huff, for the past four years.
The body was cremated. There will
be no service.

Margaret Pearce
ALBEMARLE — Margaret Lucille
Lowder Pearce, 85, 33420 Old Salisbury Road, died Saturday (March 17, 2001) at
Britthaven of the Piedmont.
Born June 24, 1915, in Stanly
County, Mrs. Pearce was the daughter of the late Bessie McClay Moose and Baldy
Henderson Lowder. Retired from Fieldcrest Cannon after 50 years with the
company, she was a member of Second Street Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Gilbert William Napier Pearce.
Survivors include sons Donald E.
and William David Pearce, both of Albemarle, and Danny G. Pearce, Chesterfield,
S.C.; daughter Dianne Pearce Cook, Norwood; sister Sara Furr, Albemarle; four
grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

KANNAPOLIS —Daisy Louise Spivey
Roberts, 64, 1000 Mable Ave., died Saturday (March 17, 2001) at NorthEast
Medical Center in Concord.
Born Nov. 17, 1936, in Cabarrus
County, Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of the late Eddie Lee and Rabie Sides
Spivey. She was a hemmer at Cannon Mills, Plant 1, sewing room, until retiring.
She was preceded in death by
husband Robert H. Rudd and son Kenneth Ray Rudd.
Survivors include daughter Donna
Sloop, Salisbury; son Jackie Rudd, Oak Island; sister Virginia Lee Furr,
Kannapolis; brother Bobby Spivey, Wilmington; nine grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
