Barbara Hinson Baker

Barbara Phyllis Hinson Baker, 62, 630 St. Matthew’s Church Road, died Sunday (March 11, 2001) at her home.

Born Sept. 17, 1938, in Iredell County, Mrs. Baker was a daughter of the late James and Martha Lowrance Hinson. A homemaker, she was educated in the Iredell County schools.

Survivors include sons Ronnie and Tommy Kesler, both of Gold Hill, and Perry Kesler, Terry Kesler and James Baker Jr., all of Salisbury; daughter Patty Earnhardt, Salisbury; and 10 grandchildren.

The body was cremated. A private service will be held at a later date.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home,China Grove, is in charge.

 

David Larry Brewer Jr.

The funeral will be Wednesday for David Larry Brewer Jr., 29, 4050 S. Main St., Lot 31, who died Saturday (March 10, 2001) at his home.

Born Sept. 20, 1971, in Stanly County, Mr. Brewer was a son of David L. and Linda Holdaway Brewer, Albemarle. He was a truck painter at Freightliner Corp., Cleveland.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include daughters Angel Mae and Samantha Lee Brewer, both of China Grove; brother Jimmy D. Brewer, Albemarle; sisters Jennifer Ann and Jessica Lynn Brewer, both of Albemarle; and great-grandmother Mazie Vestal, Salisbury.

Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Norview Gardens, Norwood, conducted by the Rev.John Gillespie.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, HartsellFuneral Home, Albemarle. At other times the family will be at the home of his parents, David and Linda Brewer, 16209 Highway 52 S., Albemarle.

 

John Robert Caldwell

MOUNT ULLA — John Robert Caldwell, 79, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at the home of son John Robert Caldwell Jr. at 10180 Caldwell Road.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, is in charge.

The family will be at the home of John Robert Caldwell Jr.

 

Joseph Wesley Cline

The funeral will be Wednesday for Joseph Wesley Cline, 87, 1250 Sidney Drive, who died Saturday (March 10, 2001) at the Hefner VAMedical Center.

Born July 13, 1913, in Rowan County, Mr. Cline, wa a son of the late Ed and Sarah Phillips Cline. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a retired truck driver.

Survivors include wife Dorothy Parker Cline; two sons; daughter Melissa Cranford, Advance, and two other daughters; brother Bill Cline,Kannapolis; and 14 grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Wednesday, National Cemetery,Salisbury, conducted by a VAMedical Center chaplain. Military rites by Rowan Veterans Council.

Visitation: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove.

 

Martha Biesecker Dry

LEXINGTON — Martha Biesecker Dry, 79, 9628 Kings Grant Drive, Murrells Inlet, S.C., formerly of Irma Avenue, died Saturday (March 10, 2001) at her home.

Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Wednesday, Forest Hill Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Billy Joe Leonard.

Visitation: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Piedmont Funeral Home.

 

Coleen Howell Dull

MOCKSVILLE — The funeral will be Wednesday for Coleen Howell Dull, 68, N.C. Highway 801 North, who died Saturday (March 10, 2001) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Services: Memorial service, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Center United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dianne Marsden. Burial, Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation: At the church immediately after the service.

Donald Carol Edwards

CONCORD — Donald Carol Edwards, 45, 2806 Barnfield Road, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital,Charlotte.

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, Roberta Church of God. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Lady’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Marianne Carlisle, 1112 Rosewood Ave., Kannapolis.

 

Edith Foster Eudy

MOCKSVILLE — Edith Foster Eudy, 70, Broadway Road, died Sunday (March 11, 2001) at her home.

Born July 3, 1930, in Davie County, Mrs. Eudy was a daughter of the late Boone and Sally Hege Foster. She graduated from Mitchell Community College as a nursing assistant. A homemaker, she was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher for 50 years.

Survivors include husband Jack C. Eudy; sons Ronald Eugene Eudy, Cooleemee, and Danny Ray Eudy, Simsbury, Conn.; daughters Cynthia Eudy-Allen and Marsha Eudy-DeSorbo, both of Salisbury; brothers Claude Foster, Mocksville, and Paul A. Foster, Advance; sisters Annie Lou Brown, Cooleemee, and Margaret Collins,York, S.C.; six grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday,Eaton Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. John D. Shore, the Rev. Clyde Settle and the Rev. Fred Carlton. Burial, Legion Memorial Park, Cooleemee.

Bertie Casper Kepley, 87, Salisbury, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at Wesley Long Nursing Center, Jamestown.

MOORESVILLE — Willie “Bill” Meadows, 79, Wiggins Road, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at University Hospital, Charlotte.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, First Baptist Church. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

 

Mary T. Morton

CHINA GROVE — Mary Threadgill Morton, 90, 153 Third Ave., died Monday (March 12, 2001) at Brightmoor Nursing Center, Salisbury.

Born March 31, 1910, in Anson County, Mrs. Morton was a daughter of the late James Isaac and Mattie Threadgill. Educated in the Anson County schools, she formerly worked at China Grove Cotton Mill. She attended South China Grove Church of God.

Her husband,Willie Blair Morton, died Jan. 31, 1989.

Survivors include sons James I. “Buddy” Morton, Kannapolis, and Willie Blair Morton Jr., Holden Beach; daughters Alice Holder, Imogene Morton Roach and Rina Lewis, all of China Grove, Helen Fortner, Holden Beach, and Eunice Burris and Patricia Dellinger, both of Salisbury; 23 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, South China Grove Church of God, conducted by the Rev.Larry Joiner and the Rev. Evelyn Galoway. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park.

Vera Viola T. Saunders

CHINA GROVE — Vera Viola Thompson Saunders, 83, 345 Pethel Road, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at her home.

Born March 31, 1917, in Stanly County, Mrs. Saunders was a daughter of the late Rev. Pearl and Ora Whitley Thompson. She had been a teaching assistant in the Hickory and Kannapolis areas. A member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church, she taught Sunday school for many years.

Her husband, the Rev.Coy Saunders, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sisters Retha Griffin and Nadie Harrington, both of Kannapolis, and Bertie Efird, Albemarle; and several stepchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Edwin Luther.Burial,West Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of sister Retha Griffin, 549 Collins St., Kannapolis.

Andrew Threadgill

The funeral will be Wednesday for Andrew Threadgill, 75, 1116 N.Church St., who died Friday (March 9, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born June 9, 1925, in Stanly County, Mr. Threadgill was the son of the late Andrew and Marie Gaines Hampton Threadgill. Educated in the Cabarrus County schools, he was employed by Cone Mills’ finishing department. He was a member of Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

His wife, Maudaree Talford Threadgill, died April 12, 1994.

Survivors include sons Andrew Threadgill Jr., Asheville, and James Talford, China Grove; daughters Lillian Threadgill, of the home, and Juanita Threadgill and Joyce Walker, both of Salisbury; sisters Lillian Phifer and Reversa Brown, both of Kannapolis, and Juanita Alexander, Concord; and eight grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Richard Johnson. Burial,Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Eumenus Mason Yates

CHINA GROVE — Eumenus Mason Yates, 81, 735 Red Leaf Lane, died Monday (March 12, 2001) at her home.

Born Sept. 10, 1919, in the Roberta community in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Yates was a daughter of the late Luther Swindell and Della Mae Stowe Mason. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she had retired from Carolina Maid, Granite Quarry. She was a member of Corner Stone Baptist Church in Landis.

Her husband, Luther Yates, died April 16, 1981.

Survivors include daughter Vickie Alexander, China Grove; sister Nell Nichols, China Grove; a granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday,Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Michael Taylor, pastor, Phaniels Baptist Church, Rockwell. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Martha P. Jenkins

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Sunday for Martha Ruth Pittman Jenkins, 73, 6204 Hilltop Ave., who died Sunday (March 11, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born April 19, 1927, in Chesterfield County, S.C., Mrs. Jenkins was a daughter of the late Sidney and Babe Demby Pittman. She had retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, No. 5 spinning room. A member of New Grace Baptist Church, Concord, she taught the nursery for many years.

Survivors include husband William Jenkins; brothers Cleve and Roy Lee Pittman, both of Kannapolis, and Boyd Pittman, Landis; and sisters Geneva Rivers, Joyce Lord and Margie Smith, all of Kannapolis, Beulah Clanton, Smyrna, Ga., and Carolyn Seagraves, China Grove.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, New Grace Baptist Church, Concord, conducted by the Rev.Johnnie Morton. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Whitley’s Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Hilltop Avenue.
