Mabel Lipe Crider
Mabel Lipe Crider, 85, formerly of 4455 Miller
Road, died Wednesday (March 7, 2001) at Genesis ElderCare.
Born Feb. 4, 1916, in Rowan County, Mrs. Crider,
a daughter of the late William Clifton and Ida Benfield Lipe, was educated in
the Rowan County schools. She retired from Cone Mills after 35 years.
Survivors include sons William N. Crider,
Salisbury, and Luther L. Crider, Hampton, Conn.; and three grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral

Joe D. Huneycutt
NEW LONDON —The funeral is today for Joe D.
Huneycutt, 65, New London, who died Wednesday (March 7, 2001)at NorthEast
Medical Center, Concord.
Born May 13, 1935, in Stanly County, Mr.
Huneycutt was a son of the late James Graham and Edith Catherine Coggins
Huneycutt. He was a 1953 graduate of New London High School.
A carpenter, he worked in commercial
construction. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army.
Survivors include wife Betty Yarborough Huneycutt,
whom he married in May 1982; sons Chris Huneycutt, Mount Pleasant, and Randy J.
Huneycutt, Albemarle; daughter Melanie H. Baker, New London; stepdaughter Misti
Shue, Albemarle; seven grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

Floyd Griffin Lineberry
COOLEEMEE — The funeral was this morning for
Floyd Griffin Lineberry, 92, Shepherdstown, W.Va., formerly of Cooleemee, who
died Tuesday (March 6, 2001) at Canterbury Nursing Home, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
Born Feb. 23, 1909, in Davie County, Mrs.
Lineberry was a daughter of the late Rosa Grubb Griffin. She was reared by her
grandparents the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Griffin.
Educated in the Davie County schools, she had
been employed at Cooleemee Cotton Mill and China Grove Cotton Mill and retired
in 1971. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Mocksville.
Her husband, Raymond William Lineberry, died Jan.
1, 1997.
Survivors include sons John Lee Lineberry,
Cooleemee, and Thomas Franklin Lineberry, Canada; daughter Margaret Branch,
Shepherdstown, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 this morning at
Summersett Funeral Home, Salisbury. The Rev. Ronald Branch officiated. Burial
was at Legion Memorial Park, Cooleemee.
The family received friends at the funeral home
prior to the service.

Mary Stephens Loftis
The funeral will be Sunday for Mary Stephens
Loftis, 78, Salisbury, who died Thursday (March 8, 2001) at Rowan Regional
Medical Center.
Born Dec. 31, 1922, in Person County, Mrs. Loftis,
a daughter of the late James and Texie Belle Stephens Clayton, was educated in
the Person County schools. A retired waitress, she was a member of Cavel Baptist
Church, Roxboro.
Survivors include sister Margaret Clayton,Roxboro;
two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Neil Shaw, pastor, Milford Hills United

CHINA GROVE — Carl N. Mason, 74, 1550 Brookwood
Drive, died Thursday (March 8, 2001)at his home.
Born March 12, 1926, in Anson County, Mr. Mason
was a son of the late William and Lily Ussery Mason. He served with the U.S.Army
during World War II and was retired from Merita Bread Bakery.
Survivors include wife Velma Dellinger Mason; son
Larry V. Mason, Concord; daughters Linda Ann Mason and Carla M. Little, both of
Concord; sister Patsy M. Hooks, Wadesboro; brother Herman Mason, Ruby, S.C.; and

Cynthia Ann McCollum, 44, 3828 Hwy. 152 W., who died Wednesday (March 7, 2001)
at her home after two weeks of serious illness.
Born June 28, 1956, in Cabarrus County, Miss
McCollum was a daughter of Joyce Stegall McCollum, of the home, and the late
John C. McCollum Jr.

brother Jeff McCollum, China Grove; sister Bonnie McCollum, China Grove;
maternal grandmother Myrtle Stegall, Kannapolis; and paternal step-grandmother

Glenn McIntyre
ROCKWELL — Glenn McIntyre, 79, Flower
Mound,Texas, formerly of Rockwell, died Tuesday (March 6, 2001) at Medical
Center of Lewisville, Lewisville,Texas.
Born May 13, 1921, in Woodleaf, Mr. McIntyre, a
son of the late Calvin and Bessie Shean McIntyre, was a graduate of Woodleaf
High School.
He worked in the electric shop at Erwin
Mills,Cooleemee, and then at Carolina Finishing before he entered the service.
During World War II, he served in Germany and France with the U.S. Army.
After the war, he joined the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and worked in electrical construction from
1947 until he retired after more than 50 years. He was a member of Gay’s
Chapel United Methodist Church.
His wife, Margaret Barger McIntyre, died May 17,
1994.
Survivors include son Vernon McIntyre,
Lewisville,Texas; daughters Betty Freuler, Bridgeport, N.J., and Carolyn Gibson,
Flower Mound, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Sunday, Gay’s
Chapel United Methodist Church. Military rites by Rowan County Veteran’s
Council.

George H. Palmer
LEXINGTON —George Hubert Palmer, 73, Cambridge
Road, died Wednesday (March 7, 2001)at Brian Center Health and
Rehabilitation,Salisbury.
Born Feb. 12, 1928, in Davidson County, Mr.
Palmer was a son of the late John and Lala Nifong Palmer. He was a veteran of
the U.S. Navy and U.S. National Guard, serving during World War II. He was a
member of VFW Post 3074, AMVETS and Center Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Frances M.Palmer; sons
Danny K. Palmer, El Paso, Texas, David Keith Palmer, Wilmington, George Allen
Palmer, San Jose, Calif., and Francis Craig Palmer, Buckhead, Ga.; and brother
Richard Palmer, Fayetteville.

Emily Reid Rideoutte
The funeral will be Saturday for Emily Reid
Rideoutte, 95, 820 Klumac Road, who died Thursday (March 8, 2001) at the
Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.
Born Oct. 7, 1905, in Salisbury, Miss Rideoutte,
a daughter of the late James Wiley and Agnes Crawford Rideoutte, was educated in
the Salisbury City schools and N.C. College for Women, Greensboro.
She taught school in Clinton for 13 years and
worked with the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Justice Department in
Washington, D.C.She had also worked at the Veterans Administration in Salisbury.
A member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, she
was a charter member of the Rowan County Democratic Party and Salisbury Historic
Foundation.
She is survived by a niece and four nephews.
Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Saturday, Chestnut
Hill Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Stephen Morris, pastor, St. Luke’s
Episcopal Church.
Visitation: 2-3 pm. Saturday at Summersett
Funeral Home.
