Jannie L. Bullins

Jannie Linebarger Bullins, 88, Salisbury, died Tuesday (March 6, 2001) at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Thomas J. Byrd Jr.

EAST SPENCER — Thomas J. Byrd Jr., 73, 310 Weant St., died Monday (March 5, 2001) at his home.

Rowan Funeral Service, Salisbury, is in charge.

 

Edith Stirewalt Cline

GRANITE QUARRY — Edith Stirewalt Cline, 88, 120 Kern St., died Monday (March 5, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born Jan. 22, 1913, in Rowan County, Mrs. Cline was a daughter of the late William Alexander and Cora Bostian Stirewalt. She was educated in the Rowan County schools.

A homemaker, she was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

Her husband, Roy A. Cline, died in Dec. 1990.

Survivors include son Harold J. Byrd, Salisbury; sister Velma Hampton, Kannapolis; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Bruce C. Sheeks, pastor, ImmanuelLutheran Church, Rockwell. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.

Visitation: 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

‘Buddy’ Doolittle

KANNAPOLIS —Clarence Sidney “Buddy” Doolittle, 54, 513 Dodge St., died Monday (March 5, 2001) at his home after 12 years of declining health and a year of serious illness.

Born March 2, 1947, in Graniteville, S.C., Mr. Doolittle was a son of the late Dewey Evans Doolittle and Geneva Shehorn Doolittle Deaton. He was a carpenter with C.J. Moss Realty and Charlotte Motor Speedway for many years and had earlier been employed in the textile industry.

An area resident since 1973, he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife Jennie Upshaw Doolittle; daughters Teresa D.Winters and Helen F. Rhodes, both of Kannapolis; sisters Dianne Bass and JoannTalbert, both of Kannapolis, and Tammy Myers, Salisbury; brothers James Doolittle, China Grove, andDewey Evans Doolittle Jr.,Salisbury; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday,Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dale Tanner. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Dodge Street.

Charles James Eudy

OAKBORO — Charles James Eudy, 76, 25791 Old School Road, died Monday (March 5, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Services: 4 p.m. Wednesday, HartsellFuneral Home chapel, Albemarle. Burial, Smiths Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Jay Lee Smith, 25758 Old School Road, Oakboro.

 

Junior Carter Goble

MOORESVILLE — Junior Carter Goble, 68, Charlotte Highway, died Sunday (March 4, 2001) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

Born March 28, 1932, in Alco, Tenn., Mr. Goble was a son of the late Henry Jackson and Lilly Mae Banks Goble. He retired after 44 years from Burlington Industries, Mooresville and was a member of Laura Memorial Church of God.

Survivors include wife Mary Alice Neill Goble, whom he married Oct. 31, 1949; sons CharlesEdwin, Ricky, Rodney and Kim Goble, all of Mooresville; sister Gertrude Bailey, Statesville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Laura Memorial Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Frank Smith and the Rev. Frankie Bass. Entombment, Iredell Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Statesville.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight, Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

Martha Fleming Gray

Martha “Ma Leese” Fleming Gray, 65, 320 W. Harrison St., died Monday (March 5, 2001) at her home after two weeks of serious illness.

Born March 12, 1935, in Rowan County, Mrs. Gray was a daughter of the late Floyd and Beulah Lucky Fleming. She attended R.A. Clement High School and was a former member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She retired from Livingstone College.

A daughter, Mary Gray, died in 1970.

Survivors include husband David C. Gray; son David Gray Jr., Salisbury; daughter Doris Jackson, Salisbury; brothers John and Carl Fleming, both of Salisbury, and Ralph Fleming, Spencer; sisters RuthHosch and Lelia Cuthbertson, both of Salisbury; granddaughters reared in the home LaNiece and LaTonya Gray; four other grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Mildred Hartman

The funeral will be Wednesday for Mildred Jacobs Reeves Hartman, 88, Salisbury, who died Monday (March 5, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 22, 1913, in Salisbury, Mrs. Hartman, a daughter of the late MartinLuther and Beulah Mae Beaver Jacobs, was educated in the Salisbury schools and a graduate of BoydenHigh School. She was a proof reader for the Salisbury Post for over 15 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Daisy Hedrick Sunday School Class. She played piano for the class for 25 years and also played for the United Methodist Women and the Children’s Choir for many years.

Her first husband, Robert Henry Reeves Jr., died June 17, 1968, and her second husband, Robert Lee “R.L.” Hartman, died April 23, 2000.

Survivors include son Robert H. Reeves III, Sarasota, Fla.; and daughter Gayle Reeves, Salisbury.

Services: Memorial, 2 p.m. Wednesday, First United Methodist Church chapel, conducted by the Rev. Thomas L. Griffis, pastor, and the Rev. Sherri E. Barnes, associate pastor. Burial, 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Rowan Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation: At the church after the memorial service.

Minnie Elvie Hege

COOLEEMEE — Minnie Elvie Hege, 80, WallStreet, died Monday (March 5, 2001) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Born June 27, 1920, in Davie County, Mrs.Hege was a daughter of the late John Washington and Minnie Frances Edwards. She retired fromBaker Furniture and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters Jeanie Dishman,Salisbury, and Sharon Hammill, Cooleemee; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Eaton Funeral Home chapel, Mocksville, conducted by the Rev.Danny Shores. Burial,Liberty United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Charles R. Kruger III

CLEVELAND —The funeral will be Friday for Charles Robert Kruger III, 48, Cleveland, who died Saturday (March 3, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born Oct. 11, 1952, in Baltimore, Md., Mr. Kruger was a son of Janet Knaube Kruger, McSherrytown,Pa., and the late Charles Robert Kruger Jr. He was educated in the Maryland schools and attended community college in Baltimore.

He was employed as a sizing specialist at the Shoe Show, Inc. office.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife Sonja Deal Kruger, whom he married Aug. 4, 1979; brothers Kenny Kruger, Ellicott City, Md., Walter Kruger, Harrisburg, Pa., John Kruger, Hanover, Pa., and Joe Kruger, Canal Winchester, Ohio; and sisters Janet Williams, York Springs, Pa., Judy Pope,Hanover, Pa., Cathy Larson, Greer, S.C., Teresa Herkert and Julie Kruger, both of Centerville, Va., and Maria Faux, Etters, Pa.

Services: 7 p.m. Friday, at the home of Kenny Kruger, Ellicott City, Md.

EvergreenCremation Services, Salisbury, is in charge.

Edna Elizabeth Mills

The funeral was today for Edna Elizabeth Mills, 64, 923 Locke St., who died Friday (March 2, 2001) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral services where held at noon today at Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.

The family received friends at the funeral home an hour before the service.

 

Lula Eva Lefler Shaver

OAKBORO — Lula Eva Lefler Shaver, 84, 16164 Highway 205, died Monday (March 5, 2001) at her home.
