Ruby Seamon Boger

MOCKSVILLE — Ruby Seamon Boger, 75, Sanford Avenue, died Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2001) at Kate B.Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem.

Born March 11, 1925, in Davie County, Mrs. Boger, a daughter of the late Lewis M. and Ida Adams Seamon, was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include husband Baxter A. Boger; son Baxter A. Boger Jr., Salisbury; daughter Ruby Joan Corum, Mocksville; brother Vestal Seamon, Rome, Ga.; sister Nellie Murray, Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 1 p.m. Saturday, Rose Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Van Lankford.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Davie Funeral Service.

Doris H. Douglas

Doris H. Douglas, 74, 107 Hawkins Ave., died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

 

Ruby Burleson Eudy

MOUNT PLEASANT — Ruby Burleson Eudy, 78, 1010 Allman Ext., died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at Universal Health Care, Concord.

Born July 5, 1922, in Stanly County, Mrs. Eudy was a daughter of the late Ebb and Sarah Sides Burleson. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include husband Ray Eudy; sons Ray Eudy Jr., Kannapolis, and Carl Eudy, Mount Pleasant; daughter Karen Dixon, Concord; brothers Claude and J.D. Burleson, both of Albemarle; sister Bessie Culp, Badin, and six grandchildren.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Gordon Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Keith Navey. Burial, St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Anne H. Fleming

Anne Hagestad Fleming, 98, Salisbury, died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

Gladys Johnson Kerley

KANNAPOLIS — Gladys Johnson Kerley, 81, formerly of 515 Martin Circle, died Thursday (March 1, 2001) at Universal Health Care, Concord.

Marie Lefler

GOLD HILL — Marie Beatrice Ketchie Hill Lefler, 80, Gold Hill, died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, is in charge.

 

Corrie Linker

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Friday for Corrie McElroy Sinclair Linker, 84, a resident of Big Elm Nursing Center and formerly of Prince Street, who died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born Aug. 16, 1916, in Madison County, Ga., Mrs. Linker was a daughter of the late Johnny Robert and Mary Elmira Collins McElroy. A homemaker, she kept children in her home for many years.

She was a member of First Evangelical Methodist Church.

Her first husband, Charlie “Red” Sinclair, died Feb. 28, 1982. Her second husband, Webb Linker, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters Virginia Sinclair Honeycutt, Landis, and Deloris Sinclair Thompson, Gastonia; sisters Catherine Davis, Kannapolis, and Ruth Pace and Gloria and Frances McElroy, all of Georgia; brothers Ruffus and Robert McElroy, both of Georgia; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Rick Dawson. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m.Friday at the funeral home.At other times, the family will be at the home of daughter Virginia Sinclair Honeycutt, 411 E. Ryder Ave., Landis.

CHINA GROVE — Charles Lucas, 71, China Grove, died Thursday (March 1, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Delores Diaz Moody

MOCKSVILLE — Delores Diaz Moody, 59, Point Road, died Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2001) at Davie County Hospital.

Born Jan. 11, 1942, in Kanob County, W.Va., Mrs. Moody was a homemaker and a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Survivors include husband Wade D. Moody; daughter Paula Edwards, Mount Ulla; and two grandchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. Friday, Jerusalem Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Lancaster. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Davie Funeral Service.

Glenn Edward Parker

ALBEMARLE — The Rev. Glenn Edgar Parker, 64, 1210 Walnut St., died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at Mercy Hospital.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Old Fashion Mission Baptist Church. Burial, Oakboro Cemetery, Oakboro.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Walnut Street.

 

Mary Sechler Puntch

KANNAPOLIS — Mary Kathryn Sechler Puntch, 91, Caremoor Retirement Center, died Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born March 12, 1909, in Rowan County, Mrs. Puntch was a daughter of the late William and Bessie Sechler. She had worked at Cannon Mills Co. sample room and at Belk’s, Kannapolis. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Exodus Class, she was active with the United Methodist Women.

Her husband,Ralph Odell Puntch, died April 9, 1993.

Survivors include sons Leslie Puntch, Kannapolis, and Donald Puntch, Charlotte; half sister Betty Ritchie, Kannapolis; half brother David Sechler, Kannapolis; and one granddaughter.

Services: 3:30 p.m. Friday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Don Shuman, the Rev. Pat Purdy and Sarah Weaver. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.At other times the family will be at the home of son Leslie Puntch, 1300 Lowrance Ave.

Sarah Herlocker Smith

NEW LONDON — Sarah Joann Herlocker Smith, 63, 36657 Carter Road, died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

Born July 1, 193, in Stanly County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Charlie Howard and Vera Lee Carter Herlocker. She was a 1955 graduate of New London High School. A homemaker, she was a member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include husband Billy Patrick Smith; sons Billy Patrick Smith Jr. and Charlie Lee Smith, both of New London, and Jonathan David Smith, Albemarle; daughters Ann Smith Estridge, Fuquay Varina, and Emily Smith Booth, New London; and three grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Stony Hill United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Gary L. Ferrell and the Rev. Robert Romanello. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, Palestine Cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Stanly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Emily Booth, 36670 Carter Road.

Catherine ‘Cat’ Webb

Catherine “Cat” Blackwelder Webb, 81, Salisbury, died Wednesday (Feb. 28, 2001) at Mercy Main Hospital, Charlotte.

Born Jan. 21, 1920, in China Grove, Mrs. Webb, a daughter of the late John and Cora Stirewalt Blackwelder, was educated in the China Grove Farm Life School.

Formerly employed by Cannon Mills, Kannapolis, she retired in 1982 from Parrish Bakery. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and WELCA.

Her husband, Mike Webb, died Dec. 30, 1990.

Survivors include son Michael F. Webb, Charlotte; sisters Loma Garver, China Grove, and Myrtle Ritchie,Kannapolis; and one granddaughter.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Salem Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. David Nelson, interim pastor, and the Rev. John Merck of Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church,Charlotte. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Summersett Funeral Home.
