Harris James Albright, 95, formerly of Safrit
Road, died Tuesday (June 26, 2001) at Genesis ElderCare.
Born Oct. 29, 1905, in Rowan County, Mr.
Albright, a son of the late Robert Lee and Elizabeth Catherine McLaughlin
Albright, was educated in the Rowan County schools. He was a farmer.
He was a member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include sisters Mary Christena Shuping,
Salisbury, and Ruth Elizabeth Deal, China Grove.

KANNAPOLIS — Weldon LaVern Davis, 74, a
resident of First Assembly Living Center, Concord, formerly of Kannapolis, died
Tuesday (June 26, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Walter Boland Dillon
Walter Boland Dillon, 77, Salisbury, died Sunday
(June 24, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 19, 1924, in Essex County, N.J., Mr.
Dillon, a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Leah Boland Dillon, was educated
in the Savannah, Ga., schools. A retired hospital administrator, he worked in
Pennsylvania.
He was a Presbyterian and a member of Salisbury
Elks Lodge and American College of Hospital Administrators. He was a life member
of the U.S. Public Health Service.
Survivors include wife Erma Bosler Dillon; sons
Walter B. Dillon Jr., San Francisco, Calif., and Scott William Dillon, Elon;
daughter Diane Dillon Hooper, Salisbury; brother James Thomas Dillon, Atlanta,
Ga.; and four grandchildren.
There will be no services.

Essie T. Grissom
Essie Thomas Grissom, 93, Salisbury, died Tuesday
(June 26, 2001) at The Laurels of Salisbury after a period of declining health.
Born Sept. 15, 1907, in Guilford County, Miss
Grissom, a daughter of the late Harris Benjamin and Mary Belle Smith Grissom,
was educated in the Rowan County schools. She worked as a nursing aide at area
nursing homes and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Spencer.
Survivors include brother Harry B.Grissom,
Spencer; and sisters Beulah G. Mahaley, Salisbury, and Katherine G. Carwile,
Richmond, Va.
Services: 3 p.m. Thursday,Lyerly Funeral Home
chapel, conducted by the Rev. Max Mills, pastor, Trinity Baptist Church,
Spencer. Burial, family plot in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home. At other times the family will be at the home of sister Beulah G. Mahaley
of Salisbury.
Ralph Turner Hallman
The funeral will be Thursday for Ralph Turner
Hallman, 76, Salisbury, who died Tuesday (June 26, 2001) at Hefner VA Medical
Center.
Born Feb. 24, 1925, in Catawba County, Mr.
Hallman, a son of the late Henry and Ollie S. Hallman, was educated in the
Salisbury city schools. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the European
Theatre during World War II.
He was employed by Southern Railroad for 10 years
and later by the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years. He was a member of St.
Mark’s Lutheran Church, Patterson Wessinger Sunday school class, Harold B.
Jarrett American Legion Post 342 and VFW Post 3006.
A son,Ralph Turner Hallman Jr., died July 20,
1985.
Survivors include wife Alice Trexler Hallman;
sisters Ruby Johnson,Annadale,Va., and Rachel Ann Clark, Springdale, Va.; four
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services: Memorial, 11 a.m.Thursday,St. Mark’s
Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Gene Bruce. Burial with military honors
in church cemetery.

Margaret Honeycutt
LANDIS — Margaret Josielene Wilkins Honeycutt,
84, formerly of 108 N. Correll St., died Tuesday (June 26, 2001) at Big Elm
Retirement Center, Kannapolis.
Born Sept. 30, 1916, in Traphill, Mrs. Honeycutt
was a daughter of the late William Sanford and Millie Reavis Wilkins. She was a
homemaker and member of Landis First United Methodist Church.
Her husband,Carl Robert Honeycutt, died Dec. 18,
1977.
Survivors include son Clyde Robert Honeycutt,
Landis; daughter Jennie Honeycutt Osborne, Concord; two grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

WINSTON-SALEM — Mary Dearing Fauntleroy
Johnston, 78, Winston-Salem, formerly of Lynchburg, Va., and Salisbury, died
Monday (June 25, 2001) at Forsyth Medical Center.
Born Jan. 17, 1923, in Lynchburg, Va., Mrs.
Johnston, a daughter of the late Walter and Eva McCuthen Fauntleroy, was a
member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the altar guild. She was also a
member of Colonial Dames and a past board member of the YWCA.
Her husband, Samuel Ladd Johnston, preceded her
in death.
Survivors include daughters Mary Ladd Hebert,
Winston-Salem, and Juliet J. Zygmunt, Bronxville, N.Y.; brother Charles Lynch
Fauntleroy, Altavista, Va.; sister Margaret Shafer, San Antonio, Texas; and
three grandsons.

Vera Pacailler Sailer, 85, 1505 Bringle Ferry
Road, died Tuesday (June 26, 2001) at Autumn Care Nursing Home.
Born May 14, 1916, in West Hoboken, N.J., Mrs.
Sailer, a daughter of the late John and Bernadine Henzil Pacailler, was educated
in the West Hoboken, N.J., schools. She was employed in the textile industry for
a number of years.
Her first husband, Thomas J. Powers, died in
1972, and her second husband, George Sailer, died in 1988.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.

at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Englewood, N.J.
Mary Alice Troutman
CONCORD — Mary Alice Brown Troutman, 77, 2242
Cold Springs Road, died Tuesday (June 26, 2001) at her home.
Born Aug. 17, 1923, in Rowan County, Mrs.
Troutman, a daughter of the late Hoy A. and Maude Wilhelm Peeler, was employed
by the Cabarrus County Schools. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran
Church, St. John’s Grange and Margaret Shipton Circle.
Survivors include husband George H.Troutman;
daughter Mary Ruth T. Hartsell, Concord; son Mark Troutman, Concord; sisters Sue
Lyerly, Granite Quarry, Mary Fortune,Kannapolis, and Margaret Bratton, Ohio;
