Lois Moon King

The funeral will be Wednesday for Lois Moon King, 84, Pellcare Lutheran Home, Winston-Salem, formerly of Salisbury, who died Thursday (June 21, 2001)at the nursing center after three days of serious illness.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Howard Woods Jr., Ebenezer Baptist Church,Greensboro. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

Dolly Roark

CHINA GROVE — Dolly Gail Basinger Roark, 56, 235 Pethel Road, died Saturday (June 23, 2001) at Duke Medical Center, Durham.

Born Dec. 5, 1944, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Roark was a daughter of the late Glenn and Mary Eunice Nance Basinger. She had retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, sewing room, Kannapolis.

Survivors include daughter Rebecca Whitman, China Grove; sister Helen Kay Beach, Hillsville, Va.; brother Billy Gene Basinger, Waldo, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Rebecca Whitman.

 

Irene Rogers

KANNAPOLIS — Irene Tanner Rogers, 89, 424 Sycamore Ave., died Saturday (June 23, 2001) at Universal Healthcare, Concord.

Lady’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Lowell Jay Stirewalt

ROCKWELL — Lowell Jay Stirewalt, 73, Rockwell, died Sunday (June 24, 2001) at his home.

Powles Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Gladys G. Stoner

The funeral will be Tuesday for Gladys Gurley Stoner, 85, Salisbury, who died Saturday (June 23, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 3, 1916, in Stanly County, Mrs. Stoner, a daughter of the late Martin Luther and Ancelia Smith Gurley, was educated in the Stanly County schools. She was a homemaker.

She was a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was also a member of Rockwell Seasoned Saints Club of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Her husband,James Berlie Stoner, died July 14, 1974, and a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth S. Bryant, died Sept. 5, 1993.

Survivors include sons James “Jimmy” Stoner, Rockwell, and Mickey Stoner, Albemarle; daughters Janice S. Barnard and Burlene S. Rummage, both of Rockwell; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Eastside Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joe Black, pastor, and Kirk Sams, pastor, Kannapolis Church of Christ. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

Memorials: Eastside Baptist Church, 370 Trexler Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
