Euel Ray Childers

MOORESVILLE — Euel Ray Childers, 73. Glenwood Drive, died Thursday (June 14, 2001) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Charlotte.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials: Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204.

 

Leroy Colbert Jr.

Leroy “June”Colbert Jr., 73, 429 Grace St., died Thursday (June 14, 2001) at his home after two weeks of serious illness.

Born May 13, 1928, in Salisbury, Mr. Colbert, a son of the late Leroy and Mary Colbert, attended J.C. Price High School. He retired from Owens-Illinois Co., and owned and operated Colbert’s Inc.

A member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, he was chairman of the video ministry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of J.C. Price American Legion Post 107.

Survivors include wife Dorothy Henderson Colbert; son Leroy Colbert III, Salisbury; daughters Deborah Colbert, Salisbury, Lydia Colbert Young, Greensboro, and Lorraine Colbert Miller, Hampton, Va.; brother Bobby Smith, Salisbury; sister Lorraine Fuller, Washington, D.C.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Thelma H. Fesperman

ALBEMARLE — Thelma Hurt Fesperman, 82, formerly of 26709 Valley Drive, died Thursday (June 14, 2001) at Albemarle Lutheran Home.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Stony Hill United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Stanly Funeral Home.

Norma G. Freeze

Norma Goodnight Freeze, 86, 3086 Goodnight Road, died Friday (June 15, 2001) at her home.

Jalen Lee Furr

MOUNT PLEASANT — Jalen Lee Furr, infant son of Jason Andrew Furr and Christina Dawn Hurst, was dead at birth Saturday (June 9, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include sisters Kaylee Sambrowski and Jordan and Jada Lee Furr; grandparents Joel and Crystal Rhinehardt, Orlando,Fla., Robert Hurst, Kannapolis, Jerry and Martha Furr, Mount Pleasant, and Loretta Allen, Mount Pleasant; and great-grandparents Minnie Petrea, Mount Pleasant, and Mary Rhinehardt, Kannapolis.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Saturday, Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Lewis Whittington.

Anne B. Logan

The funeral will be Monday for Anne Sherwood Brockwell Logan, 49, Salisbury, who died Saturday (June 9, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 12, 1952, in Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Logan was educated in the Mecklenburg County schools and graduated from Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte.

Self-employed, she dealt with gas taxes with trucking companies. She was a Methodist.

Survivors include husband Michael Ray Logan; sons Christopher Greene, Woodbridge, Va., and Patrick Sparks, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and sister Betsy Earnhardt, New Jersey.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Davidson United Methodist Church, Davidson, conducted by the Rev. James Howell.

Visitation: None.

Evergreen Cremation Services are in charge.

 

 

Addie Lemly Miller

Addie Lemly Miller, 81, Salisbury, died Friday (June 15, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, is in charge.

 

Ralph Rameschatis

The funeral will be Saturday for Ralph E.C. Rameschatis, formerly of Summit Avenue, who died May 19, 2001, in Yarmouth, Maine.

Services: Memorial, 11 a.m. Saturday, First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Malcolm Bullock.

Visitation: At the church after the service.

Zelma Bost Taylor

ROCKWELL — Zelma Bost Taylor, 93, Rockwell, died Friday (June 15, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Dr. Joseph Wilkerson

Dr. Joseph Leyburn Wilkerson, 87, Highland Farms Retirement Community, Black Mountain, died Monday (June 11, 2001).

OnJan. 24, 1948, he married Woodleaf native Evelyn Estelle Isenhour Wilkerson, now of Highland Farms.

Appointed by the Presbyterian Church US to Ka Shing, Je Jyang Province, China, to serve as a medical missionary in China, he was placed under house arrest for two years by the Communists. He served in Taiwan from 1953 until 1980 and in 1996 was honored by the Taiwanese-American Foundation for his service to Taiwan.

Services: A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Montreat Presbyterian Church, Montreat. The Rev. Richard White will officiate. Another memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Unity Presbyterian Church, Woodleaf. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Rosetta Ingram Wiseman, 83, 1100 Kenly St., died Thursday (June 14, 2001) at her home after an extended illness.
