Roy Lester Anderson
MOCKSVILLE — Roy Lester
Anderson, 78, U.S. 601 South, died Wednesday (June 6, 2001) at Forsyth Medical
Center, Winston-Salem.
Born Jan. 10, 1923, in Davie
County, Mr. Anderson was a son of the late Mittie Tutterow and Edward Anderson.
He retired from Gravely Tractor Co. after 18 years of service after working for
Ervin Mills for 25 years.
He was a veteran of World War II,
serving in both the U.S. Army and Air Corps, and a member of Liberty United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife Mary
Daniel Anderson; daughters Nancy Anderson, Winston-Salem, and Joyce Whitaker,
Mocksville; sister Catherine Evans, Mocksville; and two grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday,
Liberty United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Phillip Park. The body
will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Eaton

‘Danny’ Brunson
The funeral will be Saturday for
Daniel Lemonte “Danny” Brunson, 22, 210 Partee St., who died Friday (June 1,
2001).
Born July 7, 1978, in Georgetown,
S.C., Mr. Brunson was a son of Rosa Way Brunson, Salisbury, and Daniel Brunson,
Georgetown, S.C. He attended North Rowan and Henderson high schools and Rowan-Cabarrus
Community College and was employed at Kentucky Fried Chicken.
In addition to his parents, he is
survived by foster parents Gregory and Shirley Lane, Salisbury; half brother
Ricky Gordin, Georgetown, S.C.; foster brother Albert Britford, Salisbury;
sisters Mornekia Brunson and Britteny Brunson, both of Salisbury; and foster
sister LaKishia Cornelius, Salisbury.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday,
Trinity Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Frankie Mills. Burial,
Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Saturday at

LEXINGTON — James Stanley
“Jimmy” Gordon, 44, Old Millstream Lane, died Wednesday (June 6, 2001) at
his home.
Survivors include son Jeremy Lee
Gordon of Salisbury.

James B. Grimes
KANNAPOLIS — James Brannon
Grimes, 57, 342 Chestnut Ave., died Wednesday (June 6, 2001) at his home after
three months of declining health and three weeks of serious illness.
Born Oct. 21, 1943, in Cabarrus
County, Mr. Grimes was a son of Geneva Hord Grimes and the late Junior Ross
Grimes. Educated in the Kannapolis schools, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
A driver for Blue Bird and A
&S Taxi for 30 years, he retired in 1985 due to ill health. He was a member
of Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his
mother, include wife Evelyn Canupp Grimes; sons James B. Grimes Jr. and Michael
T. Grimes, both of Kannapolis; daughter Donna Lisa Miller,Concord; brothers
Jerry Grimes, New Jersey, and Eugene “Pedro” and Bobby Grimes, both of China
Grove; sisters Daphanie Brown and Sarah Austin, both of China Grove; and 13
grandchildren.

Kannapolis Cemetery.

O.Albert McCall
O. Albert McCall, 87, The Pines,
Davidson, formerly of Salisbury, died Thursday (June 7, 2001) at University
Hospital, Charlotte.
Born Dec. 24, 1913, in Salisbury,
Mr. McCall was a son of the late Oscar Arthur and Lillie Johnson McCall.
Educated in the Salisbury schools, he served in the U.S. Army during World War
II.
Retired from Duke Power Co., he
was a member of First United Methodist Church.
His first wife, Leona Fowler
McCall, died April 20, 1960.
Survivors include wife Catherine
Misenheimer McCall; stepson Ralph Cochrane, Sherrills Ford; and sisters Margaret
Elizabeth “Lib” McCall, Salisbury, Kathryn M.Deal, Winston-Salem, and Martha
M. Boring, Charlotte.

MOCKSVILLE — Andrew Jacob
Myers, 3 weeks, died Wednesday (June 6, 2001) at Brenner Children’s Hospital,
Winston-Salem.
Born May 14, 2001, the infant was
the son of Debra Jean Dennison and Eric Keith Myers of Mocksville.
He is also survived by paternal
grandparents Robert and Linda Myers, Hays; maternal grandmother Rose Dennison,
Julian; great-grandmother Ruth Spicer, Trap Hill; and brother Tyler Robert
Myers, Mocksville.
Services: 4 p.m. graveside,

Raymond Lee Rogers
ELKIN — Funeral services were
held Thursday for Raymond Lee Rogers, 90, 397 Pleasant Hill Drive, who died
Tuesday (June 5, 2001) at Elkin Health Care after an extended illness.
Born March 14, 1911, in Surry
County, Mr. Rogers was a son of the late Columbus Franklin and Mary Jane Parsons
Rogers. He was a member of Pleasant hIll Baptist Church.
He received a Purple Heart during
World War II. He retired after 22 years with the Pepsi Cola Co.
A son, Dale Rogers, preceded him
in death.
Survivors include wife Maude
Kluttz Rogers, formerly of Salisbury; son Brocky Rogers, Mount Airy;
stepdaughter Louise Crawford Self, Rockwell; sisters Lucille Gambill and Gladys
Luffman, both of Elkin; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and three
step-great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 3 p.m.
Thursday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Everette Carter.
The body was placed in the church at 2:30. Burial was in the church cemetery.
