Emma B. Hendricks
MOCKSVILLE —Emma Brown Hendricks, 73, Stage
Coach Road, died Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Autumn Care of Mocksville.
Born Oct. 22, 1927, in Rowan County, Mrs.
Hendricks was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Rosie Harkey Brown.
She was a nurses aide with Davie Place and a member of Mocksville Wesleyan
Church.
Survivors include husband Jessie Glenn
“Buster” Hendricks; sons James G. Hendricks, Mocksville, and Gary R.
Hendricks, Winston-Salem; daughters Betty Jean Witherspoon, Mocksville, and
Brenda Kulp Vena, Raleigh; brothers Bobby Brown, Harmony, and Arthur Brown,
Cooleemee; sisters Katherine Prevette, Cooleemee, Sadie Hilton, Mocksville, and
Dorothy Shumaker, South Carolina; six grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Eaton Funeral Home
chapel, conducted by the Rev. George Trover and the Rev.Doug Smith. Burial,Salem
United Methodist Church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Barbara B. Jimerson
Barbara Bailey Jimerson, 70, 111 E. Cemetery St.,
died Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, after several
months of illness.
Born May 19, 1931, in East Spencer, Mrs.Jimerson,
a daughter of Mollie Cain Brown, East Spencer, and the late Waddell Bailey, was
educated at Dunbar High School, East Spencer. She was a homemaker.
A member of Shady Grove Baptist Church,East
Spencer, she was in the Senior Choir and the Willing Workers Missionary Circle.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles
Jimerson, and a grandson.
Survivors include husband of 55 years Cleveland
Jimerson; sons Reggie Jimerson, Spartanburg, S.C., and Arthur Jimerson, Spencer;
daughters Margaret Donaldson, Janice Mitchell and Linda Neely, all of Salisbury;
brother Robert Lewis Bailey, Salisbury; sisters Ruth Gilmore, Harrisburg;
granddaughter reared in the home Arlette Oglesby, Salisbury; 13 other
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Lexington, died Sunday (July 29, 2001).

Guy H. Mullis
KANNAPOLIS — Guy Howard Mullis, 76, 2206
Woodlawn St., died Saturday (July 28, 2001) at his home after a year of
declining health and a month of serious illness.
Born May 29, 1925, in McMinville, Tenn., Mr.
Mullis was a son of the late Thomas Lee and Lena Caudle Mullis. He retired from
A.G. Boone Co., where he was a truck driver.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II
and was a member of Teamster Union Local 71.
Survivors include wife Odessa Query Mullis;
daughters Lavonda Fink, China Grove, Marsh Ann Connelly, Morganton, Tammy Wayne,
Davidson, and Melanie Fergerson, Kannapolis; son Guy Howard Mullis Jr.,
Salisbury; sisters Pat Kidd, China Grove, Cora Lee Newell and Betty Toogood,
both of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Lady’s Funeral Home
chapel, conducted by the Rev. Terry Dietz and the Rev. Roger Head. Burial,
Carolina Memorial Park. Military rites by DAV of Concord.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At

Ethel Mae Rufty
SPENCER —Ethel Mae Rufty, of The
Homestead,Winston-Salem, formerly of North Yadkin Avenue, died Sunday (July 29,
2001) at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem.
Born Sept. 29, 1920, in Spencer, Miss Rufty was a
daughter of the late Baxter Adam and Josie Curlee Rufty. She was educated in the
Spencer schools and was a graduate of Spencer High School and Salisbury Business
College.
Before retirement, she was a marketing
coordinator for RandolphMills, Concord. She was a member of Central United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include sister Betty McPheters,
Winston-Salem.

Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Rodney Hagans, pastor, Central United Methodist
Church.

Elbert ‘Buddy’ Turner
LANDIS —Elbert “Buddy” Grady Turner, 68,
formerly of Hoke Street, died Sunday (July 29, 2001) at Best of Care Nursing
Home, Kannapolis, after a period of declining health.
Born July 28, 1933, in Landis, Mr. Turner, a son
of the late Grady H. and Jennie Eagle Turner, was educated in the Rowan County
schools. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired from Propst Brothers Inc. He was
a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include sisters Elizabeth Striewski,
Burlington, Clara Jean Mayhew, China Grove, and Lois T. Chamberlain, Kannapolis.
Services: Privates services will be conducted by
the Rev. Graham Nahouse at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.

Willis Hope White
Willis Hope White, 55, Salisbury, died Sunday
(July 29, 2001) at his home.
Born Oct. 25, 1945, in Salisbury, Mr. White was a
son of the late Benjamin B. and Eleanor Elliott White. He was a graduate of
Boyden High School and a 1966 graduate of North Carolina State University.
He was employed with White Packing Co. and had
been self-employed as a purchasing agent. He was a member of First United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife Laura K. Holshouser White;
sons Elliott S. White, Salisbury, and Ben C. White, Huntersville; brother Nelson
E. White, Las Vegas, Nev.; and one grandchild.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, First United Methodist
Church, conducted by the Rev. Sherri Bares, associate pastor. The body will be
placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.
