Frances Bentley Ellis
The funeral is today for Frances
Earle Bentley Ellis, 78, 1406 N. Church St., who died Sunday (July 22, 2001) at
the VA Medical Center in Oteen after a period of declining health.
Born Oct. 18, 1922, in Raleigh,
Mrs. Ellis was a daughter of the late John Wesley Bentley and Edna Williams
Bentley Bradshaw. She was a 1941 graduate of Boyden High School and a 1947
graduate of Salisbury Beauty School.
During World War II, she served
as a WAVE with the U.S. Navy and was stationed in New York City. A homemaker and
a beautician, she was of the Baptist faith.
A daughter, Frances Jane, died in
1943.
Survivors include husband Donald
Arthur Ellis; son David Ellis, Salisbury; brother Samuel Roy Bradshaw, Granite
Quarry; and sisters Priscilla Bradshaw Nichols, Mocksville, Dorothy Bradshaw
Rowland, Granite Quarry, and Mary Bentley Davis, Salisbury.
Services: Graveside, 2 today,
Salisbury National Cemetery, conducted by a VA Medical Center chaplain. Military
rites by Rowan Veterans Council.

Patricia Jones
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will
be Friday for Patricia Gay Kerley Jones, 41, 2604 Pennsylvania Ave., who died
Tuesday (July 24, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
Born June 22, 1960, in Cabarrus
County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of Willis E. Kerley, Kannapolis, and the late
Lois Barnes Kerley. She was formerly employed as a project manager with Duke
Power Co. in Charlotte.
A member of Franklin Heights
Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school and was co-director of the Women’s
Missionary Union. She helped organize the first blood drive at the church and
volunteered with the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County.
Survivors, in addition to her
father, include husband Thomas D. Jones; and brother Danny L. Kerley,
Kannapolis.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday,
Franklin Heights Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tim Jernigan.Burial,

Louise C. Owings
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will
be Friday for Mary Louise Crider Owings, 79, 2801 Shady Lane, Concord, who died
Tuesday (July 24, 2001).
Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Franklin
County, Ga., Mrs. Owings was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church, Kannapolis.
She was employed in the sewing department of Cannon Mills Plant one for 37
years.
Her husband, George Wilson
Owings, died Jan. 17, 1993.
Survivors include daughter Brenda
Campbell, Woodleaf; son Richard Owings, Concord; brother Kiolen Crider,
Kannapolis; sisters Nina Roberts, Concord, and Sue Mooney,Kannapolis; five
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

MOCKSVILLE — The funeral will
be Friday for Stacy Clayburn Phillips, 59, Rolling Hills Lane, who died Tuesday
(July 24, 2001) at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem.
Born May 5, 1942, in Ashe County,
Mr. Phillips was the son of Buster Phillips of Mocksville and the late Louise
Winebarger. He was employed with Ingersoll-Rand for 31 years and attended Gospel
Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his
father, include wife Patricia Elledge Phillips; stepmother Hazel Hutchins
Phillips, Mocksville; daughters Donna Carter and Pamela Blake, both of
Mocksville; brother Gridy Phillips, Gastonia; stepbrother Jeff Hutchins,
Mocksville; stepsisters Tammy Hutchins and Karen Kimrey, both of Mocksville; and
one grandchild.
