Edna B. Beikirch

LEXINGTON — Edna Rossney Beiter Beikirch, 96, Lexington Health Care, died Monday (July 23, 2001) at the nursing center after several years of declining health.

Services: 9 a.m. Thursday, St. Helens Catholic Church, Gates, N.Y. Burial, Holy Ghost Cemetery.

Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Memorials: Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 619 S. Main St., Lexington, NC 27292.

 

Frances Bentley Ellis

The funeral will be Thursday for Frances Earle Bentley Ellis, 78, 1406 N. Church St., who died Sunday (July 22, 2001) at the VA Medical Center in Oteen after a period of declining health.

Born Oct. 18, 1922, in Raleigh, Mrs. Ellis was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Edna Pearl Williams Bentley. She was a 1941 graduate of Boyden High School and a 1947 graduate of Salisbury Beauty School.

During World War II, she served as a WAVE with the U.S. Navy and was stationed in New York City. A homemaker and a beautician, she was a Baptist.

A daughter, Frances Jane, died in 1943.

Survivors include husband Donald Arthur Ellis; son David Ellis, Salisbury; brother Samuel Royal Bradshaw, Granite Quarry; and sisters Pricilla B. Nichols, Mocksville, Dorothy Bradshaw Rowland, Granite Quarry, and Mary Bentley Davis, Salisbury.

Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Thursday, Salisbury National Cemetery, conducted by a VA Medical Center chaplain. Military rites by Rowan Veterans Council.

Visitation: None.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Charles Ray Lemly

KANNAPOLIS — Charles Ray Lemly, 69, 805 West A St., died Monday (July 23, 2001) at his home after a lengthy illness.

Born April 22, 1932, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Lemly was a son of the late Charlie A. and Freeda Bost Lemly. He retired as traffic manager of Terry Products in 1994 due to ill health. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include wife Naomi Bennett Lemly; and brother Keith Lemly, Kannapolis.

Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. James Masters and the Rev. Sam Crisp. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials: First Assembly, Building Fund, 150 U.S. Hwy. 601 By-pass, Concord, NC 28027.

 

Nell Caster McBride

FAITH — Nell Caster Madures McBride, 82, Morehead City, formerly of Faith, died Saturday (July 21, 2001) at Cartaret General Hospital, Morehead City.

Born July 7, 1919, in Faith, Mrs. McBride, a daughter of the late Burl and Clara Miller Caster, was educated in the Rowan County schools and was a homemaker. A member of Faith Baptist Church, she was a former Sunday school teacher.

Her husband, Haywood W. McBride, died July 10, 1991.

Survivors include sons Jimmy O. Madures, Newport, and Johnny C. McBride, Fayettevile; daughter Lynette Lewis, St. Mary’s, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Faith Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles R. Brawley. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

 

J. Fred Milam

KANNAPOLIS — James Fred Milam, 79, 1305 Hinson St., died Monday (July 23, 2001) at Big Elm Nursing and Retirement Center.

Lady’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

James ‘J.C.’ Morgan

The funeral will be Wednesday for James Clifford “J.C.” Morgan, 52, Salisbury, who died Sunday (July 22, 2001) at W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury, after a period of declining health.

Born June 3, 1949, in Rowan County, Mr. Morgan was a son of the late James Clay Morgan and Helen Misenheimer Morgan Fletcher. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a graduate of West Rowan High School and attended Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

He worked in the housekeeping/cleaning department at Hefner VA Medical Center for over 10 years. He was earlier employed by Fiber Industries, now KoSa. He was a Lutheran.

Survivors include daughters Brandie Morgan, Kannapolis, and Miranda Morgan, Cleveland; brother Sam Morgan, Sydney, Australia; sister Doris M. Christie, Mount Ulla; and stepsisters Darlene Wade and Alice Chase, both of Concord.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Wednesday, National Cemetery, Hefner VA Medical Center location, conducted by a VA Medical Center chaplain. Military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council.

Visitation: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Lyerly Funeral Home.

 

William M. Myers

William McArthur Myers, 90, Woodleaf Road, died Monday (July 23, 2001) at his home.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Howard Saunders

ALBEMARLE — Howard Saunders, 80, 918 E. Main St., died Sunday (July 22, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, First Presbyterian Church. Burial, Love Joy United Methodist Church cemetery, Troy.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on East Main Street.

Russell F. Shoaf

LEXINGTON — The funeral is today for Russell Foy Shoaf, 82, West Center Street Extension, who died Sunday (July 22, 2001) at Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury.

Services: Graveside, 2 today, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Davidson Funeral Home, in charge. The family will be at the home of daughter Joyce Fritts, 247 S.R. Fritts Drive, Lexington.
