Carl S. Christley

LEXINGTON — Carl S. “Curly” Christley, 70, Pennington Avenue, died Monday (July 16, 2001) at his home.

Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, Believers Baptist Church. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home.

Memorials: Believers Baptist Church, 7740 N.C. Hwy. 150, Lexington, NC 27295.

 

ClaudL Phillips Craft

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Thursday for ClaudL Phillips Craft, 87, 1006 Buick Ave., who died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at Brian Center Health and Retirement, Concord, after several years of declining health and three weeks of serious illness.

Born July 15, 1914, in Franklin County, Ga., Mrs. Craft was the daughter of the late Dr. Cluster Phillips and Myrtle Cromer Phillips. She retired from Cannon Mills sewing room.

A member of Goldmine Pentecostal Holiness Church, Royston, Ga., she attended Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kannapolis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Julius Craft, and a son, Joel Clarence Craft.

Survivors include daughters Geralene Wilhelm, Monroe, and Sara Karriker, Kannapolis; sons Gary Craft, China Grove, and Terry Craft,Kannapolis; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Lady’s Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ralph Adams and the Rev. Todd Posey. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Sara Karriker, 1708 Moose Road.

 

Brevard H. Day

KANNAPOLIS — Brevard H.Day, 78, formerly of Coventry Road, died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at Transitional Health Services after five years of declining health.

Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Lois T. Gaddy

KANNAPOLIS — Lois Turner Gaddy, 84, 817 S. Ridge Ave., died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born Nov. 16, 1916, in Anson County, Mrs. Gaddy was a daughter of the late James Anderson and Theodocia Bryant Turner. She worked for the Kannapolis City Schools and in the Cannon Mills sewing room. A member of Brookdale Baptist Church, she worked in the church nursery for over 25 years.

Survivors include husband of 61 years Henry C. Gaddy; daughters Martha Helms, Kannapolis, and Ann Gaddy Isenhour, Gastonia; son Eddie Gaddy, Oak Ridge; and three grandchildren.

Services:11 a.m. Thursday, Brookdale Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ken Savage and the Rev. Doug Pierce. Burial,Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home on South Ridge Avenue.

Lena Shoaf Taylor

COOLEEMEE — Lena Mae Shoaf Taylor, 88, a resident of Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Salisbury, for six years and formerly of Riverside Drive, died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born Sept. 4, 1912, in Davie County, Mrs.Taylor, a daughter of the late Daniel Webster and Maggie Swink Shoaf, was a homemaker. She was employed briefly by Erwin Mills.

She was a former member of Corinth Church of Christ.

Her husband, Loyd Huston Taylor, died in 1985. A daughter, Nellie Kerley, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons Donald Taylor,Salisbury, Charles Taylor, Thomasville, and Billy Taylor, Lexington; daughters Carol Snyder, Cleveland, Diane Menster,Richfield, and Geri Balfrey, Asheville; sister Hillary Murph, South River; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services:11 a.m.Thursday, Eaton Funeral Home chapel, conducted by Robert Creason. Burial, Legion Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Lee Roy Redwine Jr.

Lee Roy Redwine Jr., 60, 5865 Bertie Ave., died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Colleen F. Roberson

Colleen Foster Roberson, 71, Salisbury, died Monday (July 16, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a year of declining health and six months of serious illness.

Born July 18, 1929, in Rowan County, Mrs. Roberson was the daughter of the late Troy Lottie Michael Foster and was reared by her father and stepmother, the late Leith Chamberlain and Gertrude Foster. She was educated in the Rowan County schools.

A homemaker, she was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

Survivors include husband J.T. Roberson Jr., whom she married May 9, 1946; son Randy Roberson, Charlotte; daughter Vickie Lowder, Salisbury; brother L.C. “Bub” Foster Jr., Salisbury; and three grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Rowan Memorial Park chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mitch Sewell. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: At the cemetery chapel after the service. At other times the family will be at the home.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Stamey Tarlton

LEXINGTON — Funeral services were held Tuesday for Stamey Leonard Tarlton, 84, Old Mountain Road, who died Sunday (July 15, 2001) at Lexington Memorial Hospital after two weeks of illness.

Services were at DavidsonFuneral Home chapel, with burial at Lexington City Cemetery.

Memorials: Davidson County Cancer Services, 503 W. Center St., Lexington, NC 27292.

 

Vickie S. Oxendine

ALBEMARLE — Vickie Lee Sinclair Oxendine, 54, Highway 52 South, died Tuesday (July 17, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, HartsellFuneral Home chapel. Burial, Stanly Gardens of Memory.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Robin Simpson, 1635 McBride Road, Ansonville.

 

Delores Boyd Wilson

The funeral will be Friday for Delores Elizabeth Boyd Wilson who died Monday (July 16, 2001)at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.

Born Feb. 22, 1944, in Rowan County, Mrs. Wilson was a daughter of the late William M. Boyd Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Wheeler Boyd. She was a graduate of the Rowan County schools. She was a member and the mother of the church at End Time Harvest Church.

Her husband, Karol S. Wilson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons Karol S. Wilson, Bishop Harold A. Wilson, Brian Wilson, Cornell Wilson and Gerald Wilson; daughter Kimberly Wilson; brother William Boyd; sister Linda D. Boyd; seven grandchildren; and a nephew reared in the home, RodneyBoyd.

Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St.

Visitation: 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Gilmore Funeral Service, Lexington.
