Nottie Hall Aldrich
Nottie Stoner Hall Aldrich, 72, 432 Willow Road, died Saturday (July 14, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after several months of serious illness.
Born April 2, 1929, in Rowan County, Mrs. Aldrich was the daughter of the late Edward Richard and Mary Noble Stoner. She was a graduate of Dunbar HighSchool and attended Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
She was retired from PPG Industries and KoSa and worked part-time with the Rowan County school system.
She was a former member of Yadkin Grove Baptist Church and the Pray Warriors.
Survivors include her husband Ben Robert “B.R.” Aldrich; daughters Anita Stovall, Camp Springs, Md., and Donna Hall, Salisbury; foster daughters Wanda Brawley and Lorene Brawley, both of Salisbury; brother
RichardL. Stoner, Salisbury; and one grandson.
Arrangements are incomplete. Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.
Raymond Childress
KANNAPOLIS — Raymond Elmore Childress, 80, 409 N. East Ave., died Thursday (July 12, 2001) at his home.
Born April 5, 1921, in Iredell County, Mr. Childress was a son of the late Gus and Cordia Stallings Childress.
He retired in 1984 from Cannon Mills Co. after 40 years, where he was on a paint crew. He was a member of Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge No. 695. He was a member of Kannapolis Church of God.
Mr. Childress was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II in the European and African Theatre as a military officer, receiving two bronze stars and a good conduct medal.
His wife, Evelyn Hawks Childress, preceded him in death in 1997.
Survivors include daughter Vickie Hawks, Anderson, S.C.; sons Oren Childress, Kannapolis, Randy Childress, China Grove, and Lanny Childress, Atlanta, Ga.; sister Helen Stutts, Mooresville; brothers Carl Childress, Concord, and William Childress, Salisbury; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Richard
Pethel. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park. Military Rites will be conducted by DAV Chapter 27.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Whitley’s Funeral Home. The family will make headquarters at the home.

Margarete H. Clark
Margarete Hagenfeld Clark, 86, Salisbury, died Friday (July 13, 2001) at Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury, after a period of declining health.
Born Aug. 30, 1914, in West Frankfurt, Germany, Mrs. Clark was the daughter of the late Konrad and Maria Hagenfeld. She was educated in Germany.
She received her United States citizenship at age 45 and was retired from Loeblein Brothers Furniture Mfg. Co.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin P. Clark, on April 4, 2001.
Survivors include sons Marvin H. Clark, Lexington, and Edward J. Clark, Salisbury; daughters Margarete Clark Peeler, Lexington, and Gisela Clark Loflin, Salisbury; two brothers and three sisters, all living in Germany; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Lyerly Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mark Reed, pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church, and the Rev. Eric Disher, pastor of Lexington Community Church. Burial will be at Rowan Memorial Park.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Other times, the family will be at their respective homes.

Ralph H. Cranford
MOUNT PLEASANT —Ralph H. Cranford, 72, 2633 Lentz Harness Shop Road N., died Saturday (July 14, 2001) at his residence.
He is the brother of Mable Troutman of Rockwell.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Bethel (Bear Creek) United Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. CharlesJones. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was the brother of Phillip M. Lentz of China Grove.
