Suma W. Childers

MOORESVILLE — Suma Walker Childers, 84, 6580 Hwy. 52 W., died Thursday (July 12, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born May 1, 1917, in Alexander County, Mrs. Childers was a daughter of the late Ozzie and Bessie Harrington Walker. She was formerly employed at Cannon Mills and Burlington Industries.

Her husband, Rayford Childers, died Nov. 4, 1976.

Survivors include son Frank Childers, Mooresville; sisters Wilma Love and Louise Gunner, both of Kannapolis; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 7:30 tonight, Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Neil Walker. Graveside service, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery, Taylorsville.

Visitation: 6-7:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be the home of son Frank Childers.

 

Laura Thole Duncan

CHINA GROVE — The funeral will be Monday for Laura Lea Thole Duncan, 38, 711A S. Franklin St., who died Sunday (July 8, 2001) at her home.

Born Oct. 9, 1962, in San Angelo,Texas, Ms. Duncan was the daughter of Nancy Stickney Burns, Roan Mountain,Tenn., and Dennis Thole, San Antonio, Texas. She was educated at Holmes High School, San Antonio,Texas and was a homemaker. She was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors, in addition to her mother and father, include stepfather Donald Burns, Roan Mountain, Tenn.; stepmother Dianne Thole, San Antonio,Texas; companion, Stephen Basinger, and his son, Jeremy Basinger, both of the home; twin sons Aaron and Andrew Duncan, both of Bruceville,Texas; daughters Amber Duncan, Lafayette, La., and Bridgette Skye Basinger, of the home; and stepbrother Jeffrey Burns, Colton,Ga.

Services: Memorial, 11 a.m. Monday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home chapel, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. David Swygert. The body was cremated.

Jerry Lynn Forrest

LEXINGTON — Jerry Lynn Forrest, 63, 144 Tyro Heights Road, died Thursday (July 12, 2001) at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Tyro United Methodist Church. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Piedmont Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home on Tyro Heights Road.

 

Laura Mae Robertson

LEXINGTON — Laura Mae Michael Robertson, 77, formerly of Lexington, died Friday (July 13, 2001) at Sheridanville Family Care of Mebane.

Services: 5 p.m. Sunday, Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Lexington. Burial, Bixby Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Piedmont Funeral Home. At other times, at the home of son Tom Robertson, 244 Henderson Drive, Arcadia.
