Lina T. Beck

LEXINGTON — Lina Mae Tussey Beck, 89, West Holly Grove Road, died Tuesday (July 10, 2001) at Brian Center Nursing Home after four weeks of declining health.

Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials: A. Odell Leonard Scholarship Fund, Second Reformed United Church of Christ, 330 N. Church St., Lexington, NC 27292.

 

Catherine G. Brock

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Thursday for Catherine Sarah Gulledge Brock, 77, 501 N. East Ave., who died Monday (July 9, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born Feb. 22, 1924, in Chesterfield County, S.C., Mrs. Brock was a daughter of the late Harley and Sarah Jane Brock Gulledge. She was a homemaker and member of Mount Zion First Freewill Baptist Church.

Her husband, William Kenny Brock, died Jan. 24, 1994.

Survivors include daughters Minnie Lee Tyner, Patrick, S.C., Betty Jo Phillips, Concord, and Lois Faye Boan, Kannapolis; son Riley H. Brock, Kannapolis; sisters Temple Belle Teal and Viola G. Crowley, both of Chesterfield, S.C., and Nora Crowley, Kannapolis; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, St. John’s Freewill Baptist Church, Patrick, S.C., conducted by the Rev. Joe Rahme and the Rev. Todd Black. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Whitley’s Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home on North East Avenue.

 

‘Jimmy’ Clark

LEXINGTON — James “Jimmy” Fred Clark Jr., 41, Lingle Farm Road, died Monday (July 9, 2001).

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of his father, James Fred Clark, 1602 Old Camp Road, Denton, and his wife, Angela Leonard Clark, 117 Bruce Nifong Road, Winston-Salem.

 

Hoyle Hudson

KANNAPOLIS — Hoyle Hudson, 68, 1007 Tennessee St., died Tuesday (July 10, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born May 11, 1933, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Hudson was a son of the late R.F. and Zelma Gosnell Hudson. He retired from Cannon Mills Co., Plant 4, weave room after 20 years and attended Highest Praise Worship Center, Landis.

Survivors include brothers Harold E. and Bill Hudson, both of Kannapolis, James Milton Hudson, Salisbury, Charles E. Hudson, Landis, and Dan Hudson, Spencer; sisters Sue Buffalino, San Antonio, Texas, and Peggy Sams, Rockwell.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Rabon. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Tennessee Street.

Douglas F. Kuykendall

Douglas F. Kuykendall, 76, Salisbury, died Wednesday (July 11, 2001) at his home.

Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, is in charge.

 

Mary Metters

LEXINGTON — Mary Johnson Metters, 82, 261 Louya Road, died Monday (July 9, 2001) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of son Donald Parsons, 238 Knollwood Ave., Lexington.

Alpha D. Reneger

MOCKSVILLE — Alpha Danner Reneger, 82, Liberty Church Road, died Tuesday (July 10, 2001) at Davis Hospital, Statesville.

Born Sept. 18, 1918, in Davie County, Mrs. Reneger, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ella Harris Danner, was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church. She retired after 15 years from Davie Fish Camp.

Her husband, Burley Bristal Reneger, preceded her in death.

Survivors include son Burley W. Reneger, Mocksville; brother Dietz Danner, Mocksville; sister Elvie D. Cates, Winston-Salem; and one grandchild.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Thursday, Bear Creek Baptist Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Grady Tutterow.

Visitation: None.

Eaton Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert Wayne Sapp

ROCKWELL — The funeral will be Thursday for Robert Wayne Sapp, 68, 7650 Old Beatty Ford Road, who died Tuesday (July 10, 2001) at The Laurels of Salisbury.

Born May 28, 1933, in Rowan County, Mr. Sapp was a son of A.G. Sapp, Genesis Eldercare, Salisbury, and the late Vivian Beaver Sapp. He was educated in the Rowan County schools and had been employed by Cannon Mills. He was a member of Organ Lutheran Church.

Survivors, in addition to his father, include wife Gertrude Brown Basinger Sapp; sons Gary Wayne Sapp, Concord, and Tim, Jeff and Robbie Sapp, all of Salisbury; brother Bruce Sapp, Salisbury; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. John Pless. Burial, Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of wife Gertrude Sapp, 1040 Raymond Meadows Road.

LEXINGTON — Tillman Wayne Trotter, 67, 154 Lee-Smith Road, died Tuesday (July 10, 2001) at his home.

Franklin Short Wyatt

POLKTON — Franklin Short Wyatt, 73, 130 Curlee Road, brother of Margaret March, Lexington, died Tuesday (July 10, 2001) at Anson County Hospital.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Burial, Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. At other times, the family will be at the home in Polkton.
