MOORESVILLE — John Wesley Cagle, 73, 289
Rinehart Road, died Tuesday (Jan. 23, 2001) at Lake Norman Regional Medical
Center.
Born April 21, 1927, in Iredell County, Mr. Cagle
was son of the late William A. and Bertie Linker Cagle. He was a meat manager at
a grocery store.
Survivors include wife Frances Wickline Rowley;
sons David Cagle, Salisbury, and Paul Cagle, Kannapolis; daughters Cathy Fisher,
Mooresville, and Carolyn Price, Concord; brother Thomas Cagle, Concord; nine
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: Memorial, 2 p.m. Monday, Neill Funeral
Home, conducted by the Rev. James Pauley. The body will be cremated.

Walter Frank Dannel
MOCKSVILLE — Walter Frank Dannel, 91, Pine
Ridge Road, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center,
Salisbury, after a short illness.
Born Sept. 21, 1909, in Jelico, Tenn., Mr. Dannel
was a son of the late Walter A. Dannel and Myrtle Lawson. After his retirement
as a U.S. Army staff sergeant, he worked as a house painter.
His first wife, Vera Hilton Dannel, and his
second wife, Ethel Dannel, both died in 1996.
Survivors include son Walter F. Dannel Jr.,
Burlington; stepson Jack Eudy, Mocksville; daughter Anita Mroz, Snow Camp;
stepdaughter Judy Kessler, Buffalo, N.Y.; and numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Services: Memorial, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Eaton
Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Danny Shore. Burial, family cemetery in
Tennessee.

George Jack Davis
HARMONY —George Jack Davis, 82, 2503
Turnersburg Highway, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2001)at Iredell Memorial Hos-pital,
Statesville.
Born Aug. 17, 1918, Mr. Davis was a son of the
late Marvin Lee and Mary Elgin Paris Davis. He had retired from the supply
division of the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Also a former dairy farmer, he
was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first
wife, Ruth Marie Campbell Davis, and his second wife, Maureen Holland Lazenby
Davis.
Survivors include son George Ronald Davis,
Statesville; daughter Susan D. Cook, Loray; and two grandsons.
Services:2 p.m. Monday, Harmony Untied Methodist
Church, conducted by the Rev. Jeff Coppley, the Rev. Phil Poole and the Rev.
Aaron Fulp-Eickstaedt. The body will be taken to the church at 1:30. Burial,

MOORESVILLE —Raymond Boyce Honeycutt, 64, 285
Corriher Grange Road, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2001) at Wake Forest University
Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Born Nov. 20, 1936, in Rowan County, Mr.
Honeycutt was a son of Lloyd Honeycutt and the late Syble White Honeycutt.
Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a maintenance worker for National
Starch. He was a member of West Corinth Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Phyllis O. Honeycutt;
brothers Donald Honeycutt, China Grove, and Paul Honeycutt, Enochville; and
sister Lois Wyatt, Atlanta.

MOCKSVILLE — Aralee Adams Brooks Matherly, 80,
Michaels Road, died Friday (Jan. 26, 2001)at her residence.
Born Feb. 14, 1920, in Wilkes County, Mrs.
Matherly was a daughter of the lateWilliam Davis and Fannie Veora Walker Adams.
A homemaker, she was a member of Mocksville Wesleyan Church.
Mrs. Matherly was preceded in death by her first
husband, John Clarence Brooks, her second husband, J.B. Matherly, and a son,
Donald Franklin Brooks.

Mocksville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

CHINA GROVE — Margaret Cooper Osborne, 91, 111
W. Ross St., died Friday (Jan. 26, 2001) at Brian Center Health and Retirement,
Concord.
Born Jan. 1, 1910, in Rowan County, she was a
daughter of the late Lonnie and Margaret Cooper Spears. Educated in the Rowan
County schools, she was employed as a spinner with Cannon Mills, Plant 8, for 40
years. She was a member of Landis Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James
T. Osborne, and sons James Dean and J.L. “Jack” Osborne.
Survivors include son Anthony Osborne, Oxford,
Ohio; daughters Jolene Griffin, Charlotte, Carol Scarboro and Peggy Austin, both
of Kannapolis, and Annette McWaters, Reidsville; 15 grandchildren; and 13
great-grandchildren.

Herman Banks Troutman
KANNAPOLIS — Herman Banks Troutman, 86, 5245
Patterson Road, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 2001)at his residence.
Born Nov. 21, 1914, in Cabarrus County, Mr.
Troutman was a son of the late George H. and Minnie S. Hipp. Educated in the
Cabarrus County schools, he had retired from the No. 6 slasher room at Cannon
Mills after 50 years with the company. He was a member of Mount Mitchell
Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife Ruth Overcash Troutman,
Kannapolis; a son, Haskel B. Troutman, Kannapolis; two grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.

Mozelle Keller Williams
ARCHDALE — Mozelle Keller Williams, 76, died
Friday (Jan. 26, 2001) at Westwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, Archdale,
as a result of complications from Shy-Drager’s syndrome. She was a former home
economics teacher at China Grove High School.
Born July 7, 1924, in Guilford County, Mrs.
Williams was a daughter of Calvin Sanford and Troy Hilliard Keller. She was a
graduate of Allen Jay High School and Woman’s College (now UNC-Greensboro),
where she obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
She taught home economics at China Grove High
School, Allen Jay High School and Central High School before becoming an
instructor at UNC-Greensboro, where she worked for 17 years.
Survivors include husband Lonnie Crump Williams
Jr., whom she married Nov. 24, 1949; daughters Kay W. Gottula, Reeds, and Gwen
W. Fletcher, Cary; sister Gwendolyn Keller Griffin, Archdale; and four
grandchildren.

Ethelda Wiseman
KANNAPOLIS — Ethelda “Miss” Lineberger
Wiseman, 92, 206 William St., died Friday (Jan. 26, 2001)at Five Oaks Nursing
Center.
Born Nov. 26, 1908, in Gaston County, Mrs.
Wiseman was a daughter of the late J. Elliott and Mollie Campbell Lineberger.
She had retired from the order data processing department of Cannon Mills after
45 years with the company.
She was a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran
Church, where she was active in the Mary Ridenhour Circle. She had been a life
member of WELCA since 1989.
Her husband, George Wise-man, died in 1972.
Survivors include son George W. Wiseman Jr.,
Kannapolis; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Lady’s Funeral Home,
conducted by the Rev. Hoke Ritchie. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
