Donald Richard Brigman, 52, Salisbury, died
Monday (Jan. 15, 2001) in Crossville, Tenn., due to a truck accident.

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Wednesday for
Edward Smoot Kiser, 88, 4774 Rainbow Drive, who died Sunday (Jan. 14, 2001) at
NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Feb. 29, 1912, in Cabarrus County, Mr.
Kiser, a son of the late W.H. and Sarah Kizziah Kiser, retired from
Fieldcrest-Cannon, Plant one cutting department. He was a member of Bethpage
United Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include wife Ellen Plyler Kiser;
daughters Doris Campbell, China Grove, Linda Byrd, Charleston,S.C., Peggy
Goodman, Mooresville, and Faye Sloop, Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Lady’s Funeral Home
chapel, conducted by the Rev. Randy Foster, the Rev. Leon Smith and the Rev.
Garland Faw. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At
other times the family will be at the home on Rainbow Drive.

Ruby Stutts Lambert
MOORESVILLE — Ruby Stutts Lambert, 82, 318
Ervin Road, died Monday (Jan. 15, 2001) at Maple Leaf Nursing Home, Statesville.
Born Nov. 30, 1918, in Iredell County, Mrs.
Lambert was a daughter of the late Tom and Vassie Sherrill Stutts. Retired from
Fiber Industries, now KoSa, she was a machine operator. She was a member of
Berea Baptist Church.
Her husband, Paul Lambert, died in 1988.
Survivors include son Donald Lambert,
Mooresville; daughter Pat Edwards, Mooresville: sister Betty Allen, Mooresville;
brother Bill Stutts, Mooresville; five grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Berea Baptist
Church, conducted by the Rev. Dan Freeman. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Neill Funeral Home.

Jim McCarter
LEXINGTON — The funeral will be Wednesday for
Jimmy “Jim” McCarter, 74, Tussey Street, who died at his home on Thursday
(Jan. 11, 2001).
Born Feb. 2, 1926, in Cabarrus County, Mr.
McCarter was a son of the late Tom and Anna Knox Carter McCarter. He retired
from Beauvzoir School, Washington, D.C., and had been employed part-time at
Lexington Middle School.
A member of Files Chapel Baptist Church, he was a
member of the Men’s Choir.
Survivors include wife Ida Mae Williams McCarter,
Columbia, S.C.; sons Jeffery Smith, James Smith and Jermaine Williams, all of
Columbia, S.C.; foster son Charles Coleman, Lexington; daughters Marilyn
McCarter, Columbia, Barbara Lindsay, Midway, Brenda Hoover, Lexington, and
Patricia Vereen, Washington, D.C.; stepdaughter Jacqueline Smith, Columbia;
brothers Audrey McCarter and Codell Carter, both of Lexington, Oscar Carter,
Rockingham, and Tom Carter, Washington, D.C.; sisters Lillie Simmons, Lexington,
and Eliza Vansion, Washington, D.C.; 20 grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Files Chapel Baptist
Church, conducted by the Rev. John W. Cade. Burial, Lexington City Cemetery.
Visitation: 2:30-3 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
The body may be viewed at Morrison-Studevent Funeral Home, Lexington, from 1-8
this evening and from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday.
