Marie Eller Hartline

Marie Eller Hartline, 75, Salisbury, died Saturday (Jan. 13, 2001) at Rowan RegionalMedical Center after seven weeks of serious illness.

Born Sept. 23, 1925, in Rowan County, Mrs. Hartline was a daughter of the late Adam Ray and Fannie Trexler Eller. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she had worked for Duke Power’s Buck Steam Plant in her earlier life. She later retired from Palmer’s Stationery. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include husband James P. Hartline, whom she married May 19, 1951; sons Larry A. Hartline and James “Jimmie” P. Hartline Jr., both of Salisbury; daughters Nancy Hannold and Janet Hartline, both of Salisbury; brother Jim Eller, Mount Holly; sisters Betty Eller Holmes and Mary Eller Durrette, both of Salisbury; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services:11 a.m. Monday, Lyerly Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Griffis, senior pastor, and the Rev. Sherri Barnes, associate pastor, First United Methodist Church. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6:30-8 tonight, at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at he home of son Jimmie Hartline.

 

Trudy Broadwell Rogers

BURLINGTON —Trudy Broadwell Rogers, 91, 1806 Edgewood Ave., died Friday (Jan. 12, 2001)at her residence.

Born in Lownesville, S.C., Mrs. Rogers was a daughter of the late Calvin Sanders and Daisy Bone Broadwell. She was secretary to the superintendent of Stanly County public schools and a member of First Baptist Church of Burlington.

Survivors include daughter Trudy Rogers Evans, Birmingham, Ala.; sons Marshall C. and Arthur H. Rogers Jr., both of Albemarle; brother Henry Calvin Broadwell, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Monday, Oakboro Cemetery, Oakboro.

Visitation: 5-7 tonight, Rich & Thompson Funeral Service, Burlington. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Andrew Taylor

Andrew Taylor, 74, 637 Linn Lane, died Thursday (Jan. 11, 2001) at Brightmoor Nursing Center after four years of declining health and three months of serious illness.

Born Nov. 28, 1926, in Rowan County, Mr. Taylor was a son of the late John and Roxie Hairston Taylor. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a construction worker.

Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife, Aldonia Glasco Taylor, and sons Robert and Laverne Taylor.

Survivors include daughter Minetta T. Cleveland, Greensboro; stepsons Ricky Taylor, Salisbury, James Taylor, Greensboro, Michael Taylor, Kannapolis, and Calvin Taylor, California; stepdaughters Pearlie Mae Taylor, Statesville, and Debra Taylor, California; sister Katie T. Barger, Salisbury; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Services:11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Mitchell &Fair Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James L. Stowe, pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation: 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of sister Katie T. Barger, 637 Linn Lane.

 

Edith Shuping Thomason

Edith Shuping Thomason, 92, 4160 Goodman Lake Road, died Saturday (Jan. 13, 2001) at her residence after six months of declining health and two weeks of serious illness.

Born Nov. 2, 1908, in Rowan County, Mrs. Thomason was a daughter of the late George Michael and Mary Goodman Shuping. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Adult Sunday School Class. She was a former president of the Church Women and a former Sunday school teacher. Historian for the church, she was a member of the Church Quilters.

Mrs. Thomason was preceded in death by her husband, G. Spencer Thomason, whom she married April 12, 1933.

Survivors include Nathan and Larry Thomason, both of Salisbury, Glen Thomason, Richmond, Va., and Royce Thomason, Concord; brother Weldren Shuping, Salisbury; sister Rubelle Shuping Rhyner, Matthews; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services:11 a.m. Monday, Franklin Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Larry Summey, pastor. The body will be taken to the church at 10:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation:7-8:30 tonight, Summersett Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence.
