Willie Geter Barkley
Willie Geter Barkley, 66, 607 Church St., died Monday (Jan. 8, 2001) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Barkley was a native of Rowan County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Barkley, and a son, Robert Little.
Survivors include son Clinton Little, Charlotte; daughters Tresia Little, Salisbury, Annie Ruth Little, Statesville, and Barbara Little Cherry, Huntersville; brothers Benjamin Geter, Albert Geter and Nathaniel Geter, all of Woodleaf, and Willie E. Geter, Salisbury; sisters Essie Ruth Leach, Islin, N.J., and Aretha Allen, Salisbury; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services:1 p.m. Friday, Graham Funeral Home, Mocksville, conducted by Bishop Junior Gray. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery, Salisbury.
Visitation: Noon Friday, at the funeral home.
Bessie Elizabeth Hart
Bessie Elizabeth Hart, 78, 911 Lock St., died Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2001) at her residence, after a period of declining health.
Born Dec. 21, 1922, in Rowan County, Mrs. Hart was the daughter of the late William and Frances Melton Hart. A graduate of J.C. Price High School, she attended Livingstone College. She was a retired employee of Erik Anders, Salisbury, and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Salisbury, and former member of the choir.
Survivors include brothers David Hart and Harvey Robertson, both of Salisbury; sisters Betty Clapp, High Point, and Marcy Heilig, Josephine Ellis, Cora Daniels and Rachel Hart, all of Salisbury.
The family will be at the home of a sister, Mary Heilig, 513 East Horah St., Salisbury.

PASADENA, Texas —Virginia Faye Beck Moore, 64, 904 Pendelton, died Friday (Jan. 5, 2001) at the VA Hospital, Houston, Texas.
Born July 19, 1936, in Rowan County, Mrs. Moore was daughter of the late Thomas N. and Berlie Marie Archie Beck. She had been employed at Cannon Mills.
Survivors include husband E.J. Moore; sons Dennis Rickey Moore, Eric Steve Moore, Jeffery Dale Moore and Guy Andre Moore, all of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Services:Graveside, 2 p.m. Thursday, Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.

Born Dec. 15, 1925, in New York City, N.Y., Mr. Schneider was a son of the late Ludwig and Kathi Hetlezburg Schneider. He was a retired employee of Penn Central Railroad and a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.
Survivors include wife Patricia Butler Schneider; daughters Roxanne Schneider Walker, Walnut, Miss., and Mary Louise Schneider Jones, Jacksonville; and seven grandchildren.

York Walter
ROCKWELL — York Odell Walter, 87, 6248 Irish Potato Road, died Tuesday (Jan. 9, 2001).
Born Oct. 20, 1913, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Walter was a son of the Martin Monroe and Minnie Irene Allman Walter. A graduate of Winecoff High School, he retired from Fiber Industries in Salisbury and had formerly worked at Linn Mill in Landis. He was a member of Mount Mitchell United Methodist Church, where he was active in the United Methodist Men and was a member of Fred Baucom Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Arlene Kluttz Walter, who died Sept. 24, 1999, and a son, Kenneth “Buddy”Brown Walter, who died in 1943.
Survivors include sons Spencer “Sam” Lee Walter and David “Pete”Walter, both of Kannapolis, Bill Walter, Mount Pleasant and Harold Walter, Rockwell; sisters Jerline Helms, Ohio, Pauline Parker, Concord, Frances Slough, Alma Lequire, Margaret Barnhardt, Doris Turner and Lessie Hudson, all of Kannapolis; brothers Melvin Walter, Clarence Walter and Martin Monroe Walter, all of Kannapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
