Blanch H. Gobble

Blanch Hoffner Gobble, 72, Salisbury, died Tuesday (Feb. 13, 2001) at her home.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Dorothy O. Goble

MOORESVILLE — Dorothy Elizabeth Overcash Goble, 67, Mooresville, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at Brian Center, Mooresville.

Gladys Dunlap Griffin

KANNAPOLIS — Gladys Dunlap Griffin, 73, 1504 Brantley Road, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at her home.

Born April 5, 1927, in Union County, Mrs. Griffin was a daughter of the late Clyde and Alice McGuirt Dunlap. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by sons C. Michael and J. Kelly Griffin.

Survivors include husband of 54 years Kermit C. Griffin; son Marty L. Griffin, Kannapolis; sisters Margaret Howell and Joy Gray, both of Mooresville, Agnes Furr, Kannapolis, Sue Hargett and Ruth Cress, both of Mount Pleasant, and Betty Willis, Houston, Texas; brothers Clyde Jr., Winfield, Joe and Charles Dunlap and, all of Kannapolis; and three grandchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Skipper Watwood. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Brantley Road.

Charles C. Harrington

ALBEMARLE — Charles Cannon Harrington, 68, 24870 N.C. Hwy. 24/27 W., died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at Britthaven of Piedmont.

Services: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Hartsell Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Canton Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Ruby Efird, 20760 S. Martin Road.

Joseph H. Harrison

Joseph Houston Harrison, 84, Mooresville Road, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at Hefner VAMedical Center.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, is in charge.

 

William Charles James

William Charles James, 91, The Carillon, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at The Laurels.

Born June 19, 1909, in Whitaker, Pa., Mr. James was a son of the late Edward Strauss and Maude Paul James. He was educated in the Whitaker, Pa., schools. A machinist, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh, Pa. He attended Forest Hills PresbyterianChurch, Forest Hills, Pa.

Survivors include wife Gertrude Busch James; son Ed James, Salisbury; daughter Dorothy Thompson, East Pittsburgh, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Forest Hills, Pa.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

Barbara T. Masiello

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Barbara Thompson Masiello, 55, Virginia Beach, a Salisbury, N.C., native, died Sunday (Feb. 11, 2001) at her home.

The daughter of James and Yvonne Hamilton, she was an environmental specialist for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include husband Remo A. Masiello; children Cynthia, Sandra, Lisa and David; and four grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Calvary Assembly of God, conducted by the Rev. Dan Goff.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Altmeyer Funeral Home.

 

Maggie Morgan

ALBEMARLE —Maggie Jane Hatley Huneycutt Morgan, 80, 928 Bost St., died Sunday (Feb. 11, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, HartsellFuneral Home chapel. Burial, Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery, Stanfield.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Bost Street.

 

Christine C. Moss

MOORESVILLE — Christine C. Moss, 72, Clodfelter Road, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Born June 12, 1928, in IredellCounty, Mrs. Moss was a daughter of the late Joseph Coskie “Cos” and Mary Moose Cline. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and retired from Draymore Manufacturing Co.

Her husband, Boyce M. “Red” Moss, died Oct. 8, 1989.

Survivors include son Randy B. Moss, Mooresville; daughter Susan M. Nichols, Statesville; sister Betty C. Mills, Orlando, Fla.; and a grandson.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Southside Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. D. Steven Gouge and the Rev. Hal D. greene. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

Earnest Richard Rabon

Ernest Richard Rabon, 84, 1125 Sells Road, died Tuesday (Feb. 13, 2001) at his home.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Arabelle Treece Smith

KANNAPOLIS — Arabelle Treece Smith, 86, formerly of 200 York Ave., died Sunday (Feb. 11, 2001) at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis after a year of declining health.

Born July 30, 1914, in Stanly County, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late James and Rosa Furr Treece. She was educated in the Stanly County schools. Retired in 1985 from Cannon Mills Co., she had worked in the sewing department. She attended Concord Church of Christ.

Her husband, Fred H. Smith, died April 12, 1986, and an infant daughter, Bonita Sue Smith, died May 23, 1944.

Survivors include son W.F. “Bill”Smith, Kannapolis; daughters Carole S. VanCleave, Concord, and Patsy S. Castor, Landis; sister Kate T. White, Kannapolis; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ray Cotes.Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6:30-8 tonight at the funeral home.
