Ellen Kay Ashby

LEXINGTON — Ellen “Miss Ellie” Kay Ashby, 57, Sink Road, died Tuesday (Dec. 25, 2001)at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Sink Road.

 

Robert Clement

LEXINGTON — Robert Baxter Clement, 99, South N.C. Hwy. 150, died Wednesday (Dec. 26, 2001) at his home.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Piedmont Funeral Home chapel.

Visitation: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Jerry Lee Daniels

MOORESVILLE — Jerry Lee Daniels, 58, Crown Colony, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001).

Born April 26, 1943, in Iredell County, Mr. Daniels was a son of Carl E. and Lela Plyler Daniels of Mooresville. He was formerly employed by Deluxe Ice Cream Co.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include son Michael Lee Daniels, Mooresville, and daughter Leanne Horne, China Grove; brothers Arnold Daniels, Troutman, and Carl Allen Daniels, China Grove; sisters Janis Cashion, Statesville, Becky Keller and Louise Hannon, both of Kannapolis, and Anne Shorts, Seneca, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

Services: Memorial, 2 p.m. Friday, Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Edwin Luther.

Visitation: At the funeral home after the service.

Memorials: American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC 28202; and American Heart Association, c/o Lib Cooke, 129 Pampas Lane, Mooresville, NC 28115.

 

Francis Calvin Heath

Francis Calvin Heath, 1131 Crestview Ave., died Wednesday (Dec. 26, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Ethel Marie Reese

The funeral is tonight for Ethel Marie Reese, 66, Salisbury, who died Tuesday (Dec. 25, 2001) at her home after an extended illness.

Born March 23, 1935, in Harrisonburg, Va., Mrs. Reese was a daughter of the late Walter P. and Francis Deaver Erickson. She was a 1953 graduate of Broadway High School, Broadway, Va.

A Baptist, she retired as a seamstress from the clothing manufacturing industry.

Survivors include son Ricky L. Tutwiler, Richfield; daughters Sandra Barnette and Brenda Tutwiler Brown, both of Salisbury, and Tammie S. Shifflett, Harrisonburg, Va.; brother Glendon Deavers,Singer Glen,Va.; grandson Justin Tutwiler, of the home; five other grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Services: 8 tonight, Evergreen Cremation Services, 650 Industrial Ave., conducted by the Rev. Benny R. Hillard.

Visitation: 7-8 tonight at the crematorium.

Memorials: Rowan Regional Home Health and Hospice, 825-A W. Henderson St., Salisbury,NC 28144.

 

Ralph Setzer

Ralph Pershing Setzer, 83, Salisbury, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001) at Magnolia Gardens, Spencer, after several years of declining health.

Born Dec. 21, 1918, Gaston County, Mr. Setzer, a son of the late Frank and Eva Bullard Setzer, was educated in the Gaston County schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Retired from Sims Service &Distributing Co., he was a parts salesman. He was a Baptist but attended First United Methodist Church, Salisbury.

His first wife,Lola McDaniel Setzer, died in 1966.

Survivors include wife Edyth Hewitt Conners Setzer; sons Douglas N. Setzer, Salisbury, and Jerry Daniel Setzer, Hayes Gloucester,Va.; stepsons Bernie Conners, Salisbury, and David Conners,Oak Island; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Joe Casey will conduct private graveside services at Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home.

Memorials: Alzheimers Disease Association, Carolina Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3298.

 

Maggie Spry Wilson

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Friday for Maggie Lee Spry Wilson, 85, 406 E. 10th St., who died Tuesday (Dec. 25, 2001) at Avante of Concord.

Born March 26, 1916, in Rowan County, Mrs. Wilson was a daughter of the late Robert Winslow and Emmaline Kluttz Spry. She retired from Cannon Mills Co. plant 1 wash cloth department after 40 years.

In her earlier years, she was a Cub Scout den mother at Second Presbyterian Church for many years.

Her husband, Hovis C. Wilson, died Oct. 22, 1992.

She is survived by cousins.

Services: Graveside, Greenlawn Cemetery, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Larry Barden.

Visitation: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday at Whitley’s Funeral Home.
