After reading the CP&L response in the Salisbury Post (Dec. 11) by Mike Hughes, I would like to add a postscript.
Now, I have nothing against Mr. Hughes, as he was very nice to us and he no doubt has to write articles as he did in the Post to keep his job. I only take issue with his written opinion, where he stated, “We know that openness and honesty are cornerstones of the true partnership, and we’re working daily to demonstrate our desire to be not just a significant county enterprise, but also a valued, trusted community partner.”
Also, his boss, William Cavanaugh, CEO and president of Progress Energy, stated this theme in the July 19 Post , when he said, “We want to be part of this community, to help the community grow.”
After what I and my wife have been put through by these people, I do not believe a word they say. CP&L personnel lied to us on two different occasions. Then we were ripped off by Duke and CP&L on our power line right-of-way. So now we have been ripped off, lied to, our property devalued and cut to ribbons for their profit. Our property is almost useless.
Is this the way our community is supposed to grow? Would you like to be treated this way?
County commissioners told us that when CP&L first came here this company would be a great asset to all the people of Rowan County. Thus far, we haven’t seen this great asset.
