Dorothy Lee Hamilton

CONCORD — Dorothy Lee Hamilton, 67, 274 Crowell Drive, died Sunday (Dec. 23, 2001) at her residence.

Born Oct. 16, 1934, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Hamilton is the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillie Mobley Stinson.

Mrs. Hamilton was a retired Fieldcrest Cannon employee and a member of Parker’s Chapel AME Zion Church, where she was on the usher board, missionary department and kitchen committee.

Survivors include husband Martin Hamilton; son Martin Hamilton Jr. of Concord; daughters Debra Grier of Harrisburg, Marilyn Sheilds and Angela Hamilton, both of Concord, Marlene Adams of Kannapolis and Joann Hamilton of the home; sisters Mary Lee McLaughlin and Alice Smith, both of Salisbury, and Berncie Parks of Concord; brothers Thomas Stinson of Concord and David McLaughtlin of Garmisch, Germany; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Parker’s Chapel AME Zion Church, led by the Rev. Phillip Carson. Burial at Rutherford Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation: 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Clark Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Rachel H. Clayton

ALBEMARLE — Rachel Hathcock Clayton, 71, 22066 Oakwood Road, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001) at her home.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Hartsell Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Prospect Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home.

Memorials: Disabled American Veterans, Stanly County Chapter No. 12, P.O. Box 112, Albemarle, NC 28001.

 

Carl Odell Hathcock

ALBEMARLE — Carl Odell Hathcock, 60, 16753 Indian Mound Road, died Sunday (Dec. 23, 2001) at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial Carolina Memorial Park, Harrisburg.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. The rest of the time, the family will be at the home.

 

Florence Q. Kenny

Florence Marie Quinn Kenny, 81, Salisbury, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001) at her home.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Lucille Shinn Neel

MOORESVILLE — Lucille Shinn Neel, 87, Neel Ranch Road, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001) at her home.

Born June 5, 1914, in Rowan County, Mrs. Neel was a daughter of the late Larkin Fletcher and Tina Rrena Boyd Shinn.

She was employed in the dietary department at Lowrance Hospital in the 1960s.

She was an active member of Prospect Presbyterian Church most of her life, serving as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Prospect Heritage Committee, circle chairman and president of the Women of the Church. She was president of Mount Ulla Church Women United.

A daughter, Alice Rrena Neel, preceded her in death.

Survivors include husband Robert Gordon “Bob” Neel, whom she married April 26, 1941; and daughter Frances Ann Neel.

Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Prospect Presbyterian Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Joanne Hull.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Wednesday in the church parlor.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home is in charge.

Ralph P. Setzer

Ralph P. Setzer, 83, Salisbury, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001) at Magnolia Gardens, Spencer.

Evye C. Hathcock

ALBEMARLE — Evye Cranford Hathcock, 91, 620 Heathwood Drive, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001) at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Hartsell Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park.

Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The rest of the time the family will be at 1204 Yadkin St.

Memorials: Central United Methodist Church 172 N. Second St., Albemarle NC 28001.

 

Woodrow Young

LEXINGTON — Woodrow Young, 80, Bowers Road, died Sunday (Dec. 23, 2001) at his home.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Memorial United Church of Christ. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home on Bowers Road.
