Ralph G. Berrier

LEXINGTON — Ralph Glenn Berrier, 80, formerly of Leonard Road, died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) at Lexington Health Care,

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Beulah Reformed United Church of Christ cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

 

William ‘Bill’ Brooks

The funeral will be Friday for William “Bill” Marion Brooks, 79, Salisbury, who died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001) at Brightmoor Nursing Home.

Born May 9, 1922, in Chatham County, Mr. Brooks, a son of the late Thomas and Bertha Randall Brooks, was educated in the Chatham County schools. He was a farmer and a member of Faith Baptist Church, Faith.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Friday, Faith Baptist Church cemetery, Faith, conducted by the Rev. Fred Weber, associate pastor.

Visitation: 6-7:30 tonight, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

Memorials: Faith Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 84, Faith, NC 28041.

Harvey Lee Byrd

DAVIDSON —Harvey Lee Byrd, 75, 5951 Vinewood Road, died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) at W.G. “Bill” Hefner VAMedical Center, Salisbury.

Lady’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, is in charge.

 

Harvey Cline

CONCORD — The funeral will be Friday for Harvey Alexander Cline, 89, First Assembly Living Center, formerly of Davidson Highway.

Mr. Cline was born March 13, 1912, in Concord. He was a son of the late William Alexander and Cora Jane Bonds.

Formerly employed as a farmer and a carpenter for CannonMills, he was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include wife Viola Montieth Cline; daughter Lea Hullender, Lake Lure; son David Cline, Raleigh; sisters Mildred Heglar, Mount Pleasant, Etta Myers and Sue Gray, both of Kannapolis, and Rachel Untz, Concord; brothers Herman “Bill” Cicero Cline,Kannapolis, and Ray “Bud” Bonds Cline, Concord; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Parkwood Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Coble and the Rev.Steve Davis. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis. At other times the family will be at the home of sister Rachel Untz, 2910 Linker Ave.

Edna W. Eagle

The funeral will be Friday for Edna Wyatt Woodie Eagle, 89, Salisbury Lutheran Home, who died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Nov. 6, 1912, in Wilkes County, Mrs. Eagle was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Myra Wyatt and was educated in the Wilkes County schools.

She retired from Corriher Mills, Landis, where she worked as a winder tender. She was a Baptist.

Her husband, Arnold Woodie, died in 1954, and a son, Ralph Woodie, died in 1936.

Survivors include sisters Bonnie Holland, Gaddyburg, Pa., and Anna Lee Williams, Lancaster, S.C.; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m.Friday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home chapel, Landis, conducted by the Rev. Billy Honeycutt. Burial, Westlawn Memorial Park, China Grove.

Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ruby O. Faison

Ruby O. Faison, 80, Salisbury, died Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at her home.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Margie Tyson Hardin

ALBEMARLE — Margie Marie Tyson Hardin, 80, 1100 Lundix St., died Saturday (Dec. 1, 2001) at the home of her sister, Clara T. Carson, of Catawba.

Services: 2:30 p.m. Friday, Smyres Chapel AMEZion Church, Catawba. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-7:30 tonight at the church.

Sarah C. Hosch

Sarah Francis Campbell Hosch, 77, formerly of Chenault Road, died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.

Her sister, Mary Ruth Campbell Houpe, also died on Dec. 5, 2001.

 

Mary Ruth Houpe

CLEVELAND — Mary Ruth Houpe, 70, 16565 Dooley Road, died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) at Iredell Memorial Hospital, Statesville, after a week of serious illness. A sister, Sarah Hosch, also died on Dec. 5, 2001.

Born Feb. 6, 1931, in Rowan County, Mrs. Houpe was a daughter of the late Claude Campbell and Fannie Elizabeth Lytle Campbell Morrison. She was a graduate of the Rowan County schools.

She retired from Rowan Manor, now known as Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation. She had also been employed at Clement High School/West Rowan Middle School.

A member of Moore’s Chapel AMEZion Church, she was a member of the Missionary Society and former secretary. She was a former member of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, Woodleaf.

Her husband, Plaize Houpe, died Nov. 8, 1996.

Survivors include sons Earnest Clifton, Plaize Wayne Houpe and James A. “Jamie” Houpe, all of Cleveland; other sisters Mary Patricia Houpe, Ellen Elizabeth Turner and Linda Laverne Houpe, all of Cleveland; a nephew reared in the home, James Richard Campbell, Topeka, Kan.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Moore’s ChapelAMEZion Church, conducted by the Rev.William Speas, pastor, and her son, the Rev.James A. “Jamie” Houpe. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

James David Keller

UNION GROVE — James David Keller, 61, 262 Tutterow Road, died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001) at his home.

Born Dec. 2, 1940, in Davie County, Mr. Keller was a son of the late Jay Lee and Ester Beck Keller. He was employed at Gulistan Carpet, Turnersburg.

Survivors include wife Rema Barnette Keller; sons Bobby and Timothy Keller, both of Mocksville; daughters Donna Powell and Sharon Shoemaker, both of Mocksville; stepdaughter Samantha Cash; stepson Camrick Cash; brothers Jack Keller, Mocksville, and Jerry Keller, Harmony; sisters Faye Church, Julian, and Doris Dyson, Wanda Bailey and Nancy Campbell, all of Harmony; and eight grandchildren.

Services: Memorial, 2 pm. Friday,Reavis Funeral Home of Harmony chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joey Campbell and the Rev. Billy Jarrett.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Tutterow Road.

 

Vernon G. Price Jr.

LEXINGTON — Vernon Gaston ‘V.G.’ Price Jr., Four Chestnut Street, died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, First Reformed United Church of Christ.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Piedmont Funeral Home.

 

‘Vickie’ Shulenburger

Velma “Vickie” Cecilia Shulenburger, 73, Hurley School Road, died Tuesday (Dec. 4, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Shulenburger was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Baltimore, Md. She received her GED and a degree in criminal justice from Rowan Technical Community College, now Rowan Cabarrus Community College.

A retired beautician, she was a member of LandmarkChurch and the Ruby Cashion Sunday school class.

Survivors include husband James K. Shulenburger, whom she married in 1966; son Nathan Miller, Winston-Salem; daughter Gail McKee, Annapolis, Md.; a brother; two sisters; and two grandsons.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Benny R. Hillard and the Rev.Lawrence Lee. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

‘Jimmy’ Stafford

KANNAPOLIS — James Lawrence “Jimmy” Stafford, 61, 1408 Ontario St., died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord. He was a quadriplegic due to injuries sustained in a 1956 automobile accident.

Mr. Stafford was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Chesterfield County, S.C. He was the son of Cleo Sellers Stafford, of the home, and the late Riley Stafford.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include sister Janice Shoe, Concord.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Skyland Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. David Icenhour. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, Whitley’s Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Ontario Street.

Foy Trantham

LEXINGTON — Thomas Foy Trantham, 87, North Carolina Hwy. 8, died Wednesday (Dec. 5, 2001) at Genesis ElderCare after six months of declining health.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel. Burial, Cotton Grove United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Margaret Scearce, 239 Abbid St.
