Margaret K. Bryson

Margaret Knight Bryson, 79, 5371 N. Cedar St., died Thursday (Aug. 30, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

The family will be at the home of son James Bryson, 535 S. Boundary St.

Rowan Funeral Service is in charge.

 

Grant Burkhart

LEXINGTON — Grant Burkhart, 49, Frankwood Drive, died Wednesday (Aug. 29, 2001) at his home.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Beck’s United Church of Christ. Burial, Holly Hill Memorial Park, Thomasville.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of daughter Amy Bowers, 210 Yountz Road.

 

Eli F. Goodman

GOLD HILL — Eli Franklin Goodman, 71, Gold Hill, died Friday (Aug. 31, 2001) at Bill Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury.

Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, is in charge.

 

Thomas Samuel Kerr

KANNAPOLIS —Thomas Samuel Kerr, 69, 703 Mabel Ave., died Tuesday (Aug. 28, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after two years of declining health and six months of serious illness.

Born Nov. 2, 1931, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Kerr, a son of the late Samuel Benton and Roxie Mae Hess Kerr, was a graduate of Cannon High School. He was a Baptist.

A veteran, he was stationed in Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. He was a pipe insulator at Duke Power and, most recently, Daniel Construction Co.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Survivors include sons Thomas Samuel Kerr Jr. and Scott Kerr, both of Kannapolis, and Benny and Michael Kerr, both of China Grove; daughter Lisa Kerr Fink, Salisbury; brother Karl Bill Gaskey, Salisbury; sister Ruby Kerr, Albemarle; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. Saturday, Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Brian LaFavor. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert Scarr Wilhelm

STATESVILLE — Robert Scarr Wilhelm, 74, 308 James Farm Road, died Wednesday (Aug. 29, 2001) at Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born Dec. 6, 1927, in Iredell County, Mr. Wilhelm, a son of the late James Martin and Lillian Ruth Murdock Wilhelm, was a farmer and member of Rose Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include brothers Ben, Frank and Ren Wilhelm, all of Statesville, Alwyn Wilhelm, Mocksville, John Wilhelm, Cleveland, and Jimmy Wilhelm, Hickory; and sisters Louise Flinchum, Ruth Barkley and Norgen Waugh, all of Statesville.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Otis Johnson. Burial, New Salem United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.

Sarah C. Woodruff

MOCKSVILLE — Sarah Charles Woodruff, 93, Yadkinville Road, died Thursday (Aug. 30, 2001) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Eaton Funeral Service is in charge.
