Mary Nance Gibson
CHINA GROVE — The funeral will
be Sunday for Mary Louise Nance Gibson, 75, 522 Westside Circle, who died Monday
(Aug. 6, 2001) at her home.
Born July 3, 1926, Mrs. Gibson
was a daughter of Julia Crosson Nance Anderson, Winston-Salem, and the late
Bozie Nance. She retired from Rowan County Head Start and was employed at
Gentiva Home Care, Salisbury. She attended New Life Assembly, China Grove.
Her husband, Thomas Gibson, died
in 1985, and a son,Gregory Gibson, died in 1996.
Survivors, in addition to her
mother, include son Tommy L. Gibson, Ellenwood,Ga.; daughter Beverly Marlin,
China Grove; brother the Rev. Joseph L. Nance, Winston-Salem; 11 grandchildren;
and a host of great-grandchildren.

and Kelsey Funeral Home chapel, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Nance.

H.T. Harris
SPENCER — H.T. Harris, 75,
Spencer, died Wednesday (Aug. 8, 2001) at Magnolia Health Care after a period of
declining health.
Born Feb. 14, 1926, in Davidson
County, Mr. Harris, a son of the late Tobie S. and Ollie Campbell Harris, was
educated in the Davie County schools. During World War II, he served with the
U.S. Army in Germany.
Retired from KoSa, he was a
member of Samuel C. Hart American Legion Post 14 and was a life member of VFW
Post 3006. He attended Southside Baptist Church.
His wife, Margaret Goodson
Harris, died Jan. 28, 1985.
Survivors include brother Harvey
Harris, Mocksville; and caregiver Elsie Benfield, Salisbury.

John Phillip Krug
Services will be held Saturday
for John Phillip Krug, 56, Salisbury, who died Saturday (Aug. 3, 2001) at
Brightmoor Nursing Center.
Born Dec. 9, 1944, in Lewistown,
Pa., Mr. Krug, a son of the late Leon Krug, was a graduate of Ducane University.
He owned and operated a commercial lighting fixture retail store.
He was a veteran and of the
Catholic faith.
Survivors include wife Cecilia
Savash Krug, Chicago, Ill.; sons Flete Daniel Krug, Glynco, Ga., and Chris Krug,
Denver, Colo.; brother Edward Krug, Moon Township, Pa.

Nursing Home after a year of declining health.

Ralph H. Lee Jr.
CONCORD — Ralph H. Lee Jr., 70,
6730 Untz Road, died Wednesday (Aug. 8, 2001) at his home.
Born Sept. 6, 1930, in
Mecklenburg County, Mr.Lee was a son of Elsie Jones Lee Nolen, Mount Holly, and
the late Ralph H. Lee. He retired from Branch Motor Express Co. in 1984 after 35
years in the trucking business.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he
served in Germany during the Korean War.
Survivors, in addition to his
mother, include wife Mildred Spurling Lee; daughters Teresa Blake and Wanda
Moroney, both of Concord, and Sherry Hartsell and Donna Boone, both of
Kannapolis; brother John Lee, Melbourne, Fla.; sisters Sheila Pressley,Kenswick,
Wash., and Gloria Poole, Charlotte; eight grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.

be Saturday for Neta Elizabeth Wilhelm McCall, 81, 8252 Smith Road, who died
Wednesday (Aug. 8, 2001) at Genesis Eldercare.
Born Nov. 7, 1919, in Rowan
County, Mrs. McCall, a daughter of the late Jacob Lawson and Cora Edith Upright
Wilhelm, was educated in the Rowan County schools. She was a homemaker.

E. McCall; son James Douglas Deal, Salisbury; daughter Patsy Slemp, Hampton,
Va.; stepdaughters Terri Aistrop and Diane Summers, both of Kannapolis; brother

Lawrence J. Widener
KANNAPOLIS —Lawrence Jacob
Widener, 80, 703 N. Little Texas Road, died Thursday (Aug. 9, 2001) at
Transitional Health Services, after two weeks of serious illness.
Born April 2, 1921, in
Morristown, Tenn., Mr. Widener, a son of the late Arthur O. and Margaret Noie
Widener, served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired in
1987 after several years from Fieldcrest-Cannon Plant 1, garage department.
Earlier, he worked as a mechanic at several area car dealerships.
A member of Kimball Memorial
Lutheran Church, he was active in various phases of the church. He was
designated an honorary life member of the North Carolina Lutheran Men.
Survivors include wife of 58
years Collene Sigmon Widener; son Lawrence Anthony “Tony” Widener, Gastonia;
sister Hazel Little, Kannapolis; three grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
