Vera Eubank Cox

CHINA GROVE — Vera Eubank Cox, 85, died Thursday, (Aug. 2, 2001) after a brief illness.

Born Feb. 1, 1916, in Franklin, Ky., Mrs. Cox was a daughter of the late Porter and Tiny Butt Eubank. Educated in the Franklin, Ky., and Detroit, Mich., schools, she was formerly employed by Sparta Pipe Co., Sparta, as an inspector, and in the fabric department of Zayres department store. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Christian Woman’s organization.

Survivors include husband Clarence Woodrow Cox, whom she married September 1941; daughter Sue C. Bare, China Grove; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services: Private memorial at a later date.

Visitation: None.

Karr W. Earnhardt

Karr Woodson Earnhardt, 84, Salisbury, died Thursday (Aug. 2, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Rev. Henderson Eller

MOORESVILLE — The Rev. Henderson Eller, 85, 114 Blessing Lane, died Thursday (Aug. 2, 2001) at his home.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Laura Memorial Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Frank Smith. Burial, West Lawn Cemetery, China Grove.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Neill Funeral Home.

 

Randy Neal Foster

MOCKSVILLE — Randy Neal Foster, 44, Gladstone Road, died Wednesday (Aug. 1, 2001) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Born Oct. 24, 1956, in Davie County, Mr. Foster was a son of Nancy Veach Foster Cook, Mocksville, and the late James William Foster.

He retired from Davie County Water System and was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. He had been a member of Davie County Rescue Squad for 20 years and was active for 15 years.

Survivors include wife Patricia Myers Foster; son Derrick E. Foster, of the home; stepfather Tom Cook, Mocksville; stepson Mitchell Snow, Mocksville; daughter Jessica Ann Foster, of the home; stepdaughter Michelle Adolph, Mocksville; brothers Jimmy and Ronnie Foster, both of Mocksville; and one stepgrandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Eaton Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Shelby Harbour, the Rev. Stan Riddle and the Rev. John Andrews. Burial, Liberty United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

J. Cody Gathings

LEXINGTON — J. Cody Gathings, 18, Horseshoe Neck Road, died Wednesday (Aug. 1, 2001) as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was employed by Catawba College, Salisbury, in the library.

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Davidson Funeral Home chapel.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The rest of the time, the family will be at the home.

 

Grose Griffin Jones

The funeral will be Saturday for Grose Griffin Jones, 86, the Laurels of Salisbury, who died Tuesday (July 31, 2001) at the nursing home. He had been in declining health for several months.

Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Mitchell &Fair Funeral Service chapel, conducted by John Crump. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation: 2 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

 

John Marvin McLain

KANNAPOLIS — John Marvin McLain, formerly of 905 E. 13th St., died Friday (Aug. 3, 2001) at the Brian Center, Concord.

Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Scott Ray Ours

NEW LONDON — Scott Ray Ours, 65, 351 Pine Ridge Road, died Wednesday (Aug. 1, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Born July 23, 1936, in Uphur County, W.Va., Mr. Ours was a son of the late Hugh and Iona Kidd Ours. He was a carpenter.

His wife, Elvira Anthony Ours, died Oct. 8, 1995.

Survivors include sons Vincent Ours and Scott Ours Jr., both of Florida; brother Ralph Ours, New London; sisters Louise Corder, Buchanan, W.Va., and Irene Stemple, Garden City, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Hulon Pait. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Edward U. Perryman

LEXINGTON — Edward Ulyus Perryman, 68, Welcome Bethesda Road, died Wednesday (Aug. 1, 2001) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, after an extended illness.

Born Dec. 13, 1932, in Forsyth County, Mr. Perryman was a son of the late James Hoyle and Dora Everhart Perryman. He retired from D&B Humidifiers and was a supervisor with Bahnson Inc., Winston-Salem, for 37 years.

His wife, Mildred Whitlow Perryman, died Sept. 7, 1999.

Survivors include daughters Ineta Cherry, Lexington, Hilda Sigmon, Salisbury, Betsy Beauchamp, Welcome, and Phyllis Black, Kannapolis. brothers Bobby and James Perryman, both of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. today, Davidson Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Max Shoaf. Burial, Bethesda United Methodist Church cemetery.

Memorials: Psalm 91 Church, 930 Michael Road, Lexington NC 27295.

 

Mardia Waydarweh

Mardia Waydarweh, 81, 525 Elm St., died Wednesday (Aug. 1, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a month of illness.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Boyd Rufus Wright

MOORESVILLE — Boyd Rufus Wright, 70, London Road, died Thursday (Aug. 2, 2001) at his home.

Born Sept. 10, 1930, in Murphy, Mr. Wright was a son of the late Elijah Allen and Venia Givens Wright. He retired as a maintenance worker for the town of Mooresville at the Mooresville Golf Course. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

A son, Boyd Anthony “Tony” Wright, preceded him in death.

Survivors include wife Barbara Hastings Wright; son Samuel H. Wright, Mooresville; daughter Susan Flick, Benbrook, Texas; brothers Orville Wright, Mount Ulla, and Wilbur Wright, Salisbury; sisters Mae Hawks, Statesville, Ann Hickman, California, and Jessie Leonard, Gastonia; and two grandsons.

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Cavin-Cook Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Roy Pierce. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
