Irene Earnhardt

CHINA GROVE — Irene Deborah Earnhardt, 81, 875 Patterson St., died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord.

Lady’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, is in charge.

 

Clarence Forrest

MOCKSVILLE — Clarence Franklin Forrest, 91, Greenhill Road, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at Autumn Care.

Born Oct. 4, 1909, in Davie County, Mr. Forrest was the son of the late Lewis Bailey and Beulah Walker Forrest. A retired farmer, he had also worked for Erwin Cotton Mills and Formac Automotive. He was a member of Jericho Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by wife Sadie Mae Forrest and son Carl Franklin Forrest,

Survivors include sons Roy Forrest, Galax, Va., and Harvey Forrest, Mocksville; daughters Sue Powell, Roseland,Va., and Carol Lawrence, Mocksville; brothers Paul Forrest, Mocksville, and Conard Forrest, Swansboro; sisters Georgia Booger, Novella Safley and Jean Seamon, all of Mocksville, and Juanita Prather, High Point; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services: 6 p.m. Tuesday at Jericho Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. Tom Torpy, the Rev. Roger Powell and the Rev. Tony Forret. Burial in church cemetery.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, Davie Funeral Service.

Alvah Adam Lambert

STANFIELD — Alvah Adam Lambert, 99, 12446 Oscar Road, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Oakboro, conducted by Roy Spear and Newell Helms.Burial in church cemetery.

Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.

Nancy Louise Plummer

KANNAPOLIS — Nancy Louise Plummer, 67, 823 Fairview St., died Friday (April 27, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord.

Born Sept. 1, 1933, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Ruby Britt Overcash Eidson. A homemaker, she was a member of Charity Baptist Church.

Survivors include husband Hubert Plummer, Kannapolis; daughters Janice Marie Davis and Linda Diane Leonard, both of Kannapolis; sons David Lee Plummer, of the home, Keith Randall Plummer, Stanfield, and Lewis Anderson Plummer, Concord; sister Doris Burris, Landis; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, conducted by the Rev. R. J. Hammonds.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home.

Wesley Ritchie

Wesley Alexander Ritchie, 84, died Friday (April 27, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center. He had been in declining health for the past year and seriously ill for one month.

Born July 18, 1916, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Jacob Archie and Martha Yost Ritchie. Educated in the Rowan County schools, Mr. Ritchie had retired in 1978 as a monumental draftsman for Salisbury Marble & Granite Co. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Ritchie was a member of Haven Lutheran Church, where he had served on the church council and was head usher. He helped organize Boy Scout Troop 440 at the church.

Survivors include wife Ruby Lee Whitman Ritchie, whom he married June 7, 1940; daughter Brenda Ritchie Fulk, Faith; brother Charlie C. Ritchie, Salisbury; sister Rachel R. Parks, Salisbury; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Haven Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Ronald W. Fink, pastor. Burial, Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Lyerly Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence at other times.

Carol Steele Robinson

MOORESVILLE — Carol Steele Robinson, 55, Cornelius Road, died Friday (April 27, 2001) at her home.

Services: 11a.m., Monday, Vanderburg United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. W Gerald Davis. The body will be cremated. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. today at Cavin-Cooke Funeral Home.

Hazel Roseman Safrit

Hazel Roseman Safrit, 89, Salisbury, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at the Lutheran Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

Born April 29, 1911, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel T. and Mary Beaver Roseman. A homemaker, she was educated in the Rowan County schools. She was a member of Haven Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Minnie Phillips Circle and the Willing Workers Bible Class.

Her husband, Edgar Vernon Safrit, died Nov. 22, 1985.

Survivors include sons David M. Safrit, Winston-Salem, Edgar V. Safrit, Jr., Hendersonville, and Daniel G. Safrit, Rockwell; two grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and a great-great-grandson.

Service: Graveside, 4 p.m Monday, conducted by the Rev. Ronald Fink, pastor of Haven Lutheran Church.Burial, Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation: 3-3:45 p.m. Monday at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Mary Lee Sherrill

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral for Mary Lee Johnson Sherrill, 82, of 109 E. 31st St., who died Friday (April 27, 2001), will be held Tuesday.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Columbus Chapel AME Zion Church, Davidson.

Visitation:Noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Glennie Smith Spry

KANNAPOLIS — Glennie Smith Spry, 82, 1301 Stone Ave., died Friday (April 27, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Born May 29, 1918, in Coma, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Henry Alco and Cora Belle Thompson Smith. A member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church, she had retired in 1980 from Cannon Mills Co., Plant 1, where she worked in the set department.

Her husband, Lawrence Reuben “Mutt” Spry, died July 23, 1991.

Survivors include sons Ray Spry, China Grove, and Melvin Spry, Rockwell; sister Ruth Bowin, China Grove; brother Walter Smith, China Grove, and sons Ray Spry, China Grove; Melvin Spry, Rockwell; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Franklin Heights Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Tim Jernigan.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Whitley’s Funeral Home.

James Albert Tucker

ALBEMARLE — James Albert Tucker, 78, 28216 Eds Ave., died Friday (April 27, 2001) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Services: 4 p.m. Monday, Plyler Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev Alvin Melton and the Rev. Dan Abernathy. Burial, church cemetery, with military rites by Albemarle-Stanly County DAV.

Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. today, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.

 

James Lee Webb

James Lee Webb, 48, died Saturday (April 28, 2001) at Mariner’s Hospital in Key Largo, Fla., while on a scuba diving trip to the Keys.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.
