SALISBURY POST


 

All events take place on the grounds of the North Carolina Transportation Museum at Spencer Shops.

Friday

  • 6-9 p.m., Roundhouse: slide show on history of railroad industry in North Carolina. Free.

Admission for both Saturday and Sunday is $7 per adult, or $5 with a discount available from brochures and coupons available by visiting www.nctrans.org. Children 6 and under are free. Admission to see model train vendors only is $3.

Saturday

All events run 9 a.m.-5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • 8, 9 and 10 a.m., breakfast on the dining car; $10 per person.
  • 9:15: Train rides begin.
  • 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Roundhouse, model train exhibits.
  • 10 a.m., by Master Mechanic’s Office, train pull competition.
  • 10:30 a.m., 12:30, 2:30 and 4 p.m., Roundhouse, Teddy Roosevelt impression.
  • 11:30 a.m., 12:30 and 1:30 p.m., lunch on the dining car, $15 per person.
  • 3-5 p.m., Roundhouse. Jim Wrinn signs copies of his new book, “Steam’s Camelot: Southern and Norfolk Southern Excursions in Color.” People who ran, managed and repaired old locomotives will appear.
  • 5:30, 7 and 8:30 p.m., dinner on the dining car, $25 per person.
  • 5:30 p.m., Roundhouse, barbecue dinner, $10, by reservation only.

Sunday

All events run 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
