Pillowtex plans 2 plant closings

SALISBURY POST



KANNAPOLIS — Pillowtex Corp. announced this morning it will close manufacturing plants in Newton and Rocky Mount by June 30.

The move will eliminate 290 jobs. The Newton Plant is part of the blanket division, which Pillowtex is selling. Buyers did not want that plant.

The Rocky Mount facility makes decorative bedding for Ralph Lauren, and the Lauren contract expires June 30.
